Okay, here’s my sharing about “Year of the Dragon Optimus Prime”:

So, I heard the Lunar New Year is coming up, and it’s the Year of the Dragon. Then I saw this thing – a special edition Optimus Prime figure, all decked out for the occasion. You know, I gotta say, I was intrigued. They’re calling it the MDLX Optimus Prime (Year of the Dragon Edition). Apparently, it’s a smaller version of those fancy DLX figures they make, those things with tons of joints so you can pose them however you want.
Getting My Hands on One
Now, these things are limited. Only 1,398 of them worldwide, the website said. So, I thought, “Gotta act fast!” I did some digging around, found a retailer that had them, and snagged one. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, it’s Optimus Prime, and it’s the Year of the Dragon. How could I resist?
First Impressions
The box arrived, and man, it was a sight. Really nice packaging, felt premium, you know? I cracked it open, and there he was, Optimus Prime, but not like any I’d seen before. The colors were different, more festive, I guess you could say. And the details! They really went all out with the dragon theme.
Posing and Playing
Of course, the first thing I did was start messing around with the figure. This MDLX thing, it’s like they said. Lots of articulation points. I could bend him, twist him, put him in all sorts of crazy poses. It felt really solid too, not like some cheap plastic toy that’s gonna break if you look at it wrong. I spent a good hour just posing him in different battle stances, imagining him fighting some Decepticons.
Dragon Mode
But here’s the cool part – they designed this thing with the dragon theme in mind. So, not only can you pose him like regular Optimus Prime, but you can also kind of transform him into a more dragon-like form. It’s not a full transformation like the old-school toys, but it’s a neat little nod to the Year of the Dragon. I played around with that for a while, trying to get the most dragon-y look I could.
Showing It Off
After I had my fun, I decided to put him on display. I’ve got a shelf where I keep all my collectibles, and this guy definitely earned a spot there. He just looks so cool, all decked out in his Year of the Dragon gear. I even showed him off to a couple of buddies who came over. They were pretty impressed, especially the one who’s also into Transformers.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, this MDLX Optimus Prime (Year of the Dragon Edition) is a great addition to my collection. It’s well-made, looks awesome, and it’s a fun little piece to celebrate the Lunar New Year. I was a bit worried when I paid for it. If you’re a Transformers fan or just like cool, unique figures, I’d definitely recommend checking it out. Just remember, there aren’t many of them out there, so you might have to do some searching to find one. The number of this figure is so small, which makes me very sad.
- This thing is pretty cool.
- It is not cheap.
- I like it very much.
I should have taken some photos at the time, so I can post them here, to share with you guys. Maybe next time. If any of you have bought this, tell me what you think!
