Okay, so today I tried making wheatcakes, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure. I woke up this morning with a craving for something different for breakfast, something hearty, and that’s when I thought, “Why not try making wheatcakes?” I’d heard about them, seen pictures, but had never actually attempted to make them myself.

First, I gathered all the ingredients. I’m not much of a cook, so this was a big deal for me. I laid out the whole wheat flour, some baking powder, a bit of sugar, salt, milk, eggs, and a little bit of melted butter. I felt like a real chef getting everything prepped like that.
Next, I mixed the dry ingredients in one bowl – pretty straightforward. Flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt all went in together. Then, in another bowl, I whisked together the wet stuff: milk, eggs, and that melted butter. It all looked pretty good, and I was feeling hopeful.
Here’s where it got a little tricky. I slowly poured the wet ingredients into the dry ones, stirring as I went. The goal was to get a smooth batter, but I ended up with a few lumps. I kept stirring, hoping they would eventually disappear, but no such luck. Oh well, I figured a few lumps wouldn’t hurt.
Then came the cooking part. I heated up my non-stick pan and added a little bit of butter. When it was hot enough, I poured some batter onto the pan. I tried to make them nice and round, but they ended up in all sorts of shapes. I guess practice makes perfect, right?
- Flip them when you see bubbles, that’s what I read online.
- So I waited, and waited… and then, bubbles!
- I flipped them over, maybe a bit too enthusiastically because one of them almost landed on the floor.
After a few minutes, they were done – golden brown and smelling delicious. I stacked them up on a plate, drizzled some honey over them, and added a few slices of banana because, why not? They looked pretty good, if I do say so myself.
The Taste Test
I took a bite, and honestly, they were better than I expected! A little dense, maybe because of those lumps, but still tasty. They were hearty, a bit sweet, and the honey and banana on top were the perfect addition. It wasn’t perfect, but for a first try, I was pretty proud of myself. It’s amazing what you can do when you just give it a go, even if you’re not a pro in the kitchen. Now, I have some leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. Next time, I’ll try to get rid of those lumps, but overall, a successful experiment. I will definetly try again and perfect my method.
