Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this here Playboy magazine, the first one ever made. Folks say it’s worth somethin’, maybe even a whole lot of money. I ain’t never seen one myself, but I hear tell it’s got that Marilyn Monroe gal in it, you know, the one with the blonde hair and all that.

Now, this magazine, they call it Playboy, started way back in 1953, December it was. Some fella named Hugh Hefner, he’s the one who got it goin’. Said it was for “entertainment for men.” Hmph, entertainment, I reckon that means pictures of pretty girls. Ain’t nothin’ new under the sun, I always say.
The first issue, that’s the one everyone’s after. They say it’s real hard to find, like a hen’s tooth. And if you got one, well, you might be sittin’ on a gold mine. I heard tell one of them magazines with that Bo Derek gal sold for a whole heap of money, like twelve thousand dollars! Can you believe that? Twelve thousand dollars for a magazine! Makes my head spin.
- They say the most valuable magazines in the whole wide world, three of ’em are Playboy.
- And guess what? The very first one is right up there at the top.
- If you got one of them, the one from December 1953, Volume 1, Number 1, you’re holdin’ somethin’ special.
I heard some folks call it “Volume 1, Number 1.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it just means the first one they ever made. And it’s got that Marilyn Monroe in the middle, a centerfold they call it. She’s all smiles and… well, you know. It ain’t somethin’ I’d show my grandma, that’s for sure.
Now, the price of this thing, that’s where it gets interestin’. It ain’t just a few pennies, no sir. I seen one of them magazines, not in the best shape mind you, sold for four thousand dollars on that eBay thing. Four thousand dollars! And that one wasn’t even perfect. It had a grade of 3.5, whatever that means. They got these folks who grade these things, like they’re eggs or somethin’.
If you got one in real good shape, like brand new, they call it “mint condition,” well, that’s worth even more. I ain’t got no idea how much, but I bet it’s enough to buy a new tractor, maybe even a small house. Think about that, a magazine buyin’ you a house! Crazy world, ain’t it?
They also say this first issue had somethin’ called “Mr. Playboy” in it. First time he ever showed up, I guess. I don’t know who he is, probably some fella in a suit. But I reckon he’s important if they’re talkin’ about him.
So, if you got one of these old Playboy magazines, the first one ever made, you better hold onto it tight. Don’t go throwin’ it in the trash, you hear? Take it to someone who knows about these things, an expert they call ’em. They can tell you how much it’s worth. And who knows, maybe you’ll be rich! But don’t go gettin’ your hopes up too high, these things are rare as a blue moon.
Anyway, that’s what I know about this here Playboy first edition. It’s an old magazine with pretty girls, and it might be worth a whole lot of money. That’s the long and short of it.
