Today, I messed around with something called “comic tarzan.” I’d heard a bit about this Tarzan guy before, figured I’d see what the fuss was about.

So, this Tarzan character, he’s been around since 1912. Can you believe that? A dude named Edgar Rice Burroughs cooked him up. Apparently, Tarzan was a big deal back then, got himself into a bunch of books – 23 sequels! That’s a lot of jungle adventures. And wouldn’t you know it, he got popular enough to jump into comics, too.
Starting My Comic Adventure
I started digging around, and it turns out Tarzan’s been swinging around in comics since 1929. He’s got some serious history in those pages! They even say he was in the first adventure comic strip ever. That’s pretty wild.
I found this comic, “Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan #1” from 1948. It’s supposed to be a classic, and everyone seems to love it. I figured I’d give it a shot. I dove into the comic, ready for some action.
What I Learned About Tarzan
This Tarzan guy, he’s a serious fighter. The comic had him going up against all sorts of crazy jungle animals – leopards, gorillas, even dinosaurs! He’s not afraid of anything, it seems. He’s got some serious skills, winning all those fights.
The story’s pretty simple, from what I gathered. Tarzan grows up in the jungle, raised by apes. Then, he eventually runs into other people and gets a taste of the outside world. It’s a classic fish-out-of-water story, I guess.
My Thoughts
- Tarzan’s Popularity: I can see why people liked this Tarzan guy back in the day. He’s tough, he’s got a cool backstory, and he’s always in the middle of some crazy adventure.
- Comic Book History: It’s pretty cool to think that Tarzan was a big part of comic book history. He was there from the beginning, almost.
- The Definition of a Superhero: I guess by some definition, he fits the mold of superhero. He’s got powers, he fights evil.
All in all, it was a fun little dive into the world of Tarzan. I might check out some more of his comics later. It’s always interesting to see how these old characters got started and how they’ve changed over the years. This old comic was a good time, and I understand the hype around it now.
