Alright, guys, so I just got my hands on the Transformers Studio Series 86 Leader Dinobot Swoop, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. This bad boy is the last piece I needed to complete my leader-class Dinobots collection, and the anticipation was killing me!
Starting the Hunt
So, I started my quest for Swoop like any other day. Scouring online stores, checking out local shops. I mean, this thing is like a big robotic dinosaur, how could I resist? And not just any dinosaur, a flying one! A Pteranodon to be exact. You can imagine, it wasn’t easy to track down.
The Discovery
Then, one fine day, BAM! There it was, on a shelf in a store I usually don’t frequent. I grabbed it without a second thought. I mean, finally, this beauty was going to join my collection. The box was massive, showcasing Swoop in all its glory. I could already imagine it with my other Dinobots.
Unboxing and First Impressions
- Getting it home was an adventure in itself. It’s pretty big, you know? But once I got it home, I tore into that box like a kid on Christmas morning.
- The sculpt on this thing is insane. Seriously, the detail is amazing. It really captures that classic 86 look from the movie, which is what the Studio Series is all about.
- It’s got some heft to it. Feels solid and well-made, unlike some of those flimsy figures out there.
Transformation Time
Now, the fun part – transforming it. It took me a good while, I am not gonna lie. It’s got 21 steps to go from robot to Pteranodon mode. I fumbled around, followed the instructions, and after a bit of a struggle, I managed to get it into its flying dinosaur form. And let me tell you, it looks epic! The wingspan is impressive, and it just has this majestic look to it. There was that one time I thought I broke a piece, but turned out it was designed that way – phew!
Posing and Display
Once I got the hang of the transformation, I started playing around with different poses. It comes with a removable backdrop from the “Battle of Autobot City” scene, which is a nice touch. Getting it to stand and look menacing with the other Dinobots was a bit of a challenge, but so satisfying. I mean, Grimlock and the gang finally have their air support!
Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a bit of a pricey addition, but seeing all my Dinobots together, it was totally worth it. It’s a great centerpiece for any Transformers collection, especially if you’re into the Dinobots or the ’86 movie. This Swoop figure, man, it’s a solid piece of work. I spent a good chunk of my weekend just messing around with it, transforming it back and forth, posing it with the others. Good times.
So, if you’re on the fence about getting this, I’d say go for it. It’s a fantastic figure, and it’s just so cool to have the complete Dinobot team assembled. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go rearrange my display shelf for the hundredth time.
