Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these Ghost band figures. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I seen some things, and I heard some things. These things, they look like little dolls, but not the kind you’d give a little girl. Nope, these are… different.
First off, they got all kinds of names. Papa somethin’-or-other, Nameless Ghouls… Sounds like a bunch of spooky nonsense to me. But folks seem to like ‘em. They’re always talkin’ about “unique” and “custom” ones. I reckon that means you can get ‘em looking however you want, which is kinda neat, I guess.
They say these figures are based on a band, a Swedish rock band called Ghost. Now, I ain’t heard much of their music, but from what I gather, they dress up in costumes and play loud music. Like them KISS fellas from back in the day, but maybe a bit spookier. They got masks and all sorts of getups. These little figures, they’re supposed to be like that, all dressed up and ready to rock, I reckon.
- Some of these figures are hand-painted, which I gotta say, that’s pretty impressive. Means someone took the time to make ‘em look just right. They call them “highly exclusive,” which probably means they cost a pretty penny. City folks and their fancy toys, I tell ya.
- And they got these Pop figures too. Those are the ones with the big heads and little bodies. I seen ‘em at the store once, all lined up on a shelf. They got all sorts of characters, even these Ghost band fellas. They say they made some in 2023 and 2024 too. Time flies, don’t it?
- Then there’s these plush ones. Like stuffed animals, but for grown-ups, I guess. Pinterest, that website the youngins use, is full of ideas for ‘em. People make ‘em themselves, sew ‘em up and whatnot. Must take a lot of time, if you ask me.
They got all sorts of materials too. Some are made of vinyl, which is like plastic, I think. Others are made of, well, I don’t rightly know what they’re made of. But they look sturdy enough. Not like those old porcelain dolls my grandma used to have. Those things would shatter if you looked at ‘em wrong.
And people, they collect these things. Like stamps or coins, but with spooky little figures. They put ‘em on shelves, in glass cases, all sorts of places. I guess it’s a hobby, like anything else. Keeps folks busy, I suppose. Some folks even give them as gifts, apparently music fans like them “official products”. I heard someone say there was a figure of Papa Emeritus IV, who I reckon is the leader of the band or something like that.
Now, I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t quite get it. But to each their own, I always say. If folks wanna spend their hard-earned money on these Ghost band figures, that’s their business. Me, I’d rather spend my money on a good meal and a warm blanket. But hey, that’s just me.
This Ghost band, they started way back in 2006 in a place called Linkoping, in Sweden. That’s a long way from here, I tell ya. And the lead singer, Tobias Forge, he’s the one who writes all the songs and dresses up like Papa Emeritus or Cardinal Copia or somethin’. He seems like a clever fella, makin’ all this stuff up and gettin’ folks all riled up about it.
So, there ya have it. That’s about all I know about these Ghost band figures. They’re little dolls, based on a rock band, and people seem to like ‘em a whole lot. They come in all shapes and sizes, and they can be pretty darn expensive. But hey, if it makes folks happy, who am I to judge? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about spooky dolls has made me hungry.
