Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this whole “hosting anime” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. At first, I was like, “How hard can it be?” I mean, I watch anime all the time, so I figured I could just, you know, put it up somewhere for others to enjoy too. Boy, was I wrong.
I started by poking around online. I was reading this article from, like, last year, March 21, 2023, I think. Some guy named “Crai” was going on about it. He made it sound so simple. He said if you’re just a casual anime fan, something like Hulu or Netflix is fine. But for us “addicts,” as he put it, it’s a whole different story. We want those new ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ episodes as soon as they drop, or access to some super old, classic OVAs.
So, I dove deeper. I was checking out different anime streaming sites. There’s a ton of them! Some are free, but they usually have a bunch of ads, and the selection isn’t always the best. Others, you gotta pay for, but they have way more stuff and extra features. This one article was hyping up this site called Crunchyroll. Said it’s the best of the best, with over 1,000 anime titles and 30,000 episodes. Insane, right?
My Little Adventure
- First, I tried to understand what I need. If you want the newest anime as they come out, like, straight from Japan, people say Crunchyroll is the way to go. But if you’re into dubbed anime, then there’s this other one called Funimation, it’s supposed to be good too. And then, of course, there’s always Netflix and Hulu, which have anime but also a bunch of other shows and movies.
- Then, there are many other websites I found, some are free, some ask you to pay for them. But I think if you are a serious anime fan, Crunchyroll maybe the best one to go.
- After that, I started to collect some anime from those free anime sites. There are so many classic anime, I downloaded almost 100GB of them.
- Next, I built a simple website using HTML and CSS, it looks not that fancy but at least it works well.
- Finally, I uploaded all those anime to my website and added links to each anime’s description page. Now people can watch them directly from my website.
Honestly, if you’re really serious about watching anime, it might be worth it to just pay for one of these sites, especially Crunchyroll. It’s way easier than trying to do it yourself.
But hey, at least now I can say I’ve done it. I hosted my own anime site! It wasn’t pretty, and it probably broke a bunch of rules, but it was mine. And who knows, maybe this little experiment will lead to something bigger. For now, though, I think I’ll just stick to watching anime, the normal way. You know, actually enjoy them.
