Let me tell you about my recent journey with Siegfried in Granblue Fantasy Versus.

So, I picked up this game, right? And I was really into playing Djeeta and Yuel. They’re pretty cool and all, but then I started running into this Siegfried guy. Man, this dude is tough! It felt like every time I tried to do something, he had an answer. His moves just seem to reach across the whole screen. I tried to get in close, to find an opening, but it’s like he’s always one step ahead. And don’t even get me started on his projectile, it just seemed impossible to deal with.
I was getting pretty frustrated, not gonna lie. I mean, I’m not the best player out there, but I thought I had a decent grasp of things. But this Siegfried, he was making me question everything. So, I started looking around, seeing if anyone else had the same problem. And it turns out, I wasn’t alone.
I found some tips about the basics of the game, stuff about something called “footsies” which, I guess, is like a mind game within the game. It’s all about controlling space and making your opponent guess what you’re gonna do. There were also some guides on how to open up your opponent’s defense. The information’s good, it talks about some “trilemma” which probably is some choices you need to make during the game. It was a lot to take in, but I figured it was worth a shot.
- Start practicing: I went into training mode and just started practicing. Simple stuff at first, like getting my basic combos down consistently. Then I started working on my movement, trying to be more unpredictable.
- Focus on spacing: I tried to pay more attention to the distance between me and Siegfried. When to move in, when to back off, that kind of thing. It wasn’t easy, and I definitely messed up a lot, but I felt like I was starting to understand things better.
- Experiment with different approaches: I tried different things, like jumping more, or using more special moves, just to see what worked and what didn’t.
I also stumbled upon some stuff about other fighting games, like Darkstalkers 2. It had lists of moves, character guides, and strategies. It seemed kinda similar to what I was dealing with in Granblue. It made me think, maybe these fighting games have more in common than I thought.
The grind continues
It’s still a work in progress, I won’t pretend I’ve suddenly become a master. I still lose to Siegfried players, sometimes badly. But now, I feel like I have a better idea of what I’m doing. I’m learning from my mistakes, and I’m actually starting to enjoy the challenge. Before it was frustrating, now I see it’s just part of the learning process. I kept practicing and trying to apply what I learned. Slowly but surely, I started to see some improvement.
It’s like, when you finally land that combo you’ve been practicing, or when you bait your opponent into making a mistake and you punish them for it, it’s a great feeling. It’s those small victories that keep me going.
So yeah, that’s my story with Siegfried in Granblue Fantasy Versus. It’s been a bumpy ride, but I’m glad I stuck with it. I’ve learned a lot, not just about the game, but about myself as a player. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be the one giving people trouble with my Djeeta and Yuel!
