Alright, let’s talk about this Minnie Mouse, you know, the one with the bow. I seen her picture everywhere, even on them little phone things the youngsters carry around.

Now, they got all sorts of Minnies, I reckon. Some got shoes, some don’t. This here “barefoot Minnie” seems to be a big deal for some folks. I heard tell they collect ‘em, like they ain’t got nothin’ better to do with their money. Crazy, if you ask me.
- One fella was yappin’ about a “rare plush stuffed animal.” Said it was a “must-have.” Must-have for what, I wonder? To sit on a shelf and collect dust? Sounds like a waste to me.
- Then there’s talk about slippers. “Barefoot Dreams slippers,” they call ‘em. Says they’re soft. Well, I reckon my old socks are soft enough, and they don’t cost a fortune.
I seen a picture once, Minnie at the beach, no shoes on her feet. Sand between her toes, just like any normal person, well, mouse I guess. And in another picture, she was wearin’ a towel, still no shoes. Seems like she likes bein’ barefoot sometimes, just like me when I’m workin’ in the garden.
Now, this Minnie, she’s changed a lot over the years, I hear. Used to be, she didn’t even wear gloves or a shirt! Just a dress and big ol’ eyes. Then she got fancy, started wearin’ gloves and high heels. But sometimes, she goes back to bein’ barefoot, I guess. Can’t make up her mind, that mouse.
And there’s this Mortimer fella, they say he’s Minnie’s old boyfriend. Rude and arrogant, they say. Sounds like a real piece of work. Mickey’s much nicer, always smilin’. I like him better.
Minnie, she’s an “American cartoon character,” they say. Made by that Disney fella. She’s got a bow, always a bow. Someone said, “If it’s got a bow on it, I’m sold.” Well, I ain’t sold on nothin’ just ‘cause it’s got a bow. Got to be more to it than that.
So, this barefoot Minnie thing… I don’t quite get it, but folks seem to like her. She’s a mouse, she wears bows, sometimes she wears shoes, sometimes she don’t. That’s about it, as far as I can see. But hey, to each their own, I always say. If they want to spend their money on barefoot mouse dolls and slippers, that’s their business. Me, I’ll stick to my garden and my old socks. They’re comfortable enough for me.
I reckon this whole thing is about more than just a mouse without shoes. It’s about… well, I don’t rightly know what it’s about. Maybe it’s about bein’ comfortable, bein’ yourself, not worryin’ about what other folks think. Maybe it’s just about liking bows and cute little things. Whatever it is, it seems to make some folks happy, and that ain’t a bad thing, I suppose.
Though, I still think spendin’ good money on a toy mouse without shoes is a bit silly. But that’s just me, an old woman who likes things practical. You youngsters can do what you want. Just don’t go stompin’ on my tomatoes with your fancy barefoot mouse slippers, ya hear?

This whole thing reminds me of my grandaughter, always wanting the newest shiny thing. Well, I guess that’s just the way of the world. Things change, people change, even cartoon mice change. One day they got shoes, the next day they don’t. Who knows what they’ll be wearin’ next? Maybe little overalls, like me when I’m workin’ in the garden. Now that would be somethin’ to see.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about this barefoot Minnie Mouse. She’s a mouse, she’s got a bow, and sometimes she likes to go without shoes. Not much more to it than that, far as I can tell.
