Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about these here Marvel comics and their QR codes. I heard some folks ain’t too happy ’bout it, and let me tell ya, I can see why.
I ain’t no fancy city slicker with a smartphone glued to my hand, but even I know a thing or two ’bout common sense. These comic book fellas, they started puttin’ these little square thingies, these “QR codes” they call ’em, on the last page of their books. Said it was for extra stuff, like bonus pages or somethin’. Sounded fancy, I guess.
- But then folks started complainin’. Said it was too much trouble.
- Said they didn’t wanna be fumbling with their phones just to see a little extra picture or read a bit more story.
- They just wanted to read their darn comics, plain and simple.
And you know what? I agree with ’em. Back in my day, a comic was a comic. You paid your money, you got your story, and that was that. No need for all this newfangled techy stuff. It’s like buyin’ a cow and then havin’ to scan its ear tag to get the milk. Just give me the milk, dang it!
Now, I ain’t sayin’ these comic books are bad. I remember when my grandson used to bring home them X-Men comics. Colorful pictures, all them superheroes flyin’ around, fightin’ bad guys. It was fun, even if I couldn’t always keep up with who was who. But this QR code business? It just seems like a whole lotta fuss for nothin’.
I heard some folks were worried these codes wouldn’t last. Like, what happens in a few years when the internet changes or somethin’? Will those bonus pages just disappear? Seems like a waste if you ask me. Marvel shoulda just put all the story in the book to begin with and be done with it. That’s how we did it back when things made sense.
And another thing, all this talk about “spoilers.” Seems like these Marvel folks got their britches in a twist about people sharin’ the endin’ of the comics online. So they put up a link to the last page, thinkin’ it would stop folks from snappin’ pictures. But honestly, does it really matter that much? It’s just a story, ain’t it? Back in my day, if you missed somethin’, you missed it. No big deal.
Seems to me like these big companies, like this here Marvel, they just like to make things complicated. They think they gotta be all fancy and modern, but sometimes the old ways are the best. Just give people a good comic book, with a beginnin’, a middle, and an end. No need for all these extra gizmos and gadgets. And for goodness sake, leave that last page alone!
Anyways, that’s just my two cents. Maybe I’m just an old woman who don’t understand these newfangled ways. But I still think a good story is a good story, no matter how you read it. And a comic book should be just that – a book. Not some fancy phone game.

So, Marvel, you hear me? Just give us good comics. Leave them QR codes for the youngsters with their fancy phones. We just wanna read and enjoy, without havin’ to jump through hoops. And that’s the truth, plain and simple, just like a good ol’ country mornin’. No need for fancy talk or fancy codes.
Marvel comics have been around for a long, long time, and they didn’t need no QR code at the last page back then, did they? And they were good comics! I remember little Timmy used to read ‘em all day long. Now he’s all grown up and still loves them, but even he says this QR code thing is a bit much. So listen to the people, Marvel, and just stick to what you do best: tellin’ good stories.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some biscuits before the sun goes down.
