Okay, so I’ve been messing around with the “Spawn” comics lately, you know, that old-school superhero stuff. I got this itch to really dig into issue number 100, ’cause I heard some wild things happen in it, like Spawn facing off against this Malebolgia dude. It’s kind of a big deal in the series.
I started off by grabbing the first two Compendiums. These things are massive! They are seriously chunky volumes. Compendium 1 had issues 1 through 50, and Compendium 2 took me from 51 all the way up to 100. I gotta say, reading through these was a wild ride. The stories, the art, everything just sucked me right in. The early issues had a lot of foundational elements, which solidified and were fleshed out over time.
Here’s the thing: these Compendiums are actually a pretty sweet deal if you want to get into “Spawn” without dropping a ton of cash. Each one’s got 50 issues, so you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. It’s way easier than trying to track down individual issues, especially for an old series like this.
Then I went online to see what others are saying about this particular issue. Found some forums where people were talking about “Spawn #100” and what happens after. There’s a lot of buzz around it, especially with Spawn and Angela taking on Urizen before this. Apparently, issue 100 is where Spawn finally confronts Malebolgia alone. Pretty intense stuff. They also mentioned that reading Compendiums 1 and 2 is the easiest way to catch up. And they suggested reading the additional series afterward.
So, I dug a bit deeper and found out that Todd McFarlane, the creator of “Spawn,” is a Canadian guy. He also worked on “The Amazing Spider-Man.” And get this, Greg Capullo, who drew “Batman” for DC, also did like 80 issues of “Spawn.” It’s wild how all these talented folks are connected.
Finally, after going through all that, I realized that starting from “Spawn #1” is probably the best way to go. It really sets the stage for everything that comes later. Issue 100 is a major turning point, but you appreciate it more if you’ve seen the whole journey.
And, I got some digital issues from 100 to 199, I heard there is an issue that around 500 have been denied access to. I will explore that later on.
I think I will try to get into “Spawn #350” later. But I haven’t got a clue what will happen there.
So yeah, that’s my “Spawn” adventure so far. It’s been a blast getting into this series, and I’m stoked to see where it goes next. Especially with all the crazy stuff that’s supposed to happen after issue 100. If you’re into superheroes and haven’t checked out “Spawn,” I definitely recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared to lose some serious time, ’cause it’s addictive!

What I’ve Done So Far
I’ve finished reading Compendiums 1 and 2, which cover issues 1-100. I’ve also started browsing through digital issues from 100 to 199. Plus, I’ve been checking out what other fans are saying online and learning about the creators behind the comic.
What I Plan to Do Next
I’m planning to continue with the digital issues past 199. Also, I want to look into why access to issue 500 has been denied. And eventually, I’m aiming to get into “Spawn #350” to see what all the fuss is about there.
