Planet of the Apes Funko Pop: Them Little Monkey Men
Well, I’ll be! Them little monkey men, you know, the ones from that there Planet of the Apes movie? They got turned into these here Funko Pop things. Never seen anythin’ like it! My grandson, he’s got a whole mess of ’em. Says they’re called vinyl figures or somethin’. Look like little dolls to me, but he sure does love ’em.
First off, there’s this one called Cornelius. He’s a smarty-pants monkey, always readin’ books and such in the movie. The Funko Pop fella, he looks just like him, with them big ol’ eyes and that funny little face. My grandson says he’s number 26 in the collection, whatever that means. Must be a lot of ’em, I reckon.
Then there’s the Ape Soldier. Now, them fellas were mean, always carryin’ guns and causin’ trouble. The Funko Pop version, though, he ain’t so scary. Stands there all stiff, like he’s waitin’ for a bus or somethin’. Still, my grandson says he’s a “must-have” for folks who like them movies and these here Pop things.
You know, these Funko Pop things ain’t like them old action figures. Them action figures, you could bend their arms and legs and make ’em fight. These Pops, they mostly just stand there. Only their heads turn, like they’re lookin’ around sayin’, “Where am I?” But my grandson, he says that don’t matter. He likes ’em just the way they are.
Collectin’ Them Little Monkey Men
Now, seems like there’s a whole bunch of these Planet of the Apes Funko Pop fellas. My grandson, he’s always talkin’ about a “checklist,” tryin’ to get ’em all. He says you can find these lists online, tells you which ones to get. Sounds like a lot of work to me, but he sure gets a kick out of it.
He’s got this big book, too, where he keeps track of ’em all. Says it helps him know what he’s got and what he still needs. And wouldn’t you know it, he’s got a special way of keepin’ ’em, too. Some in boxes, some out. Says it depends on how much they’re worth or somethin’. I tell ya, these young folks and their hobbies!
How Much Them Little Monkey Men Worth?
This is the part that gets me. Turns out, some of these little monkey men are worth money! Not just a dollar or two, neither. My grandson says some of ’em can go for a whole lot, dependin’ on which one it is and how good it looks. Says there’s no real way to know for sure, but you can look on the internet to see what other folks are payin’.
- He talks about somethin’ called “Ebay.” Says you can see how much people paid for them there Pops recently.
- Then there’s this “Price Pop Guide” and “HobbyDB.” Sounds fancy, but I guess they help you figure out how much your Pops are worth.
- And wouldn’t you know it, there’s even an “app” for it! He’s always lookin’ at his phone, checkin’ the prices.
Now, I don’t get it myself. They cost about ten bucks when you buy ’em new, but some folks will pay a whole lot more for ’em later. Goes to show ya, people will pay good money for just about anything these days.
So, that’s the story on them Planet of the Apes Funko Pop fellas. Little monkey men, costin’ a bit of money and makin’ my grandson happy as a clam. Who am I to judge? If it keeps him out of trouble, I reckon it’s alright. Plus, they are kinda cute, with them big ol’ eyes. Just don’t tell nobody I said that!
And they ain’t always easy to find, neither. My grandson, he’s always lookin’ in different stores and online, tryin’ to snag the ones he needs. He even talks about “rare” ones and “exclusive” ones. Sounds like a treasure hunt to me. But hey, at least he ain’t out there causin’ mischief.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to collect, or if you just like them Planet of the Apes movies, these Funko Pop fellas might be just the thing. Just be warned, it can get a little addictive. Next thing you know, you’ll have a whole army of little monkey men starin’ at you from your shelves. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
