Well, well, well, I reckon y’all wanna know ’bout this Onix Pokémon card, huh? Let me tell ya, it ain’t no big fancy deal like them Charizard ones, but it’s still worth somethin’, I suppose. If you been collectin’ Pokémon cards for a while, you probably seen this big ol’ rock snake with the weird name, Onix. Ain’t the flashiest, but some folks sure do look for ‘em in their collections, and some of them cards can fetch a decent penny if you got the right one.

Now, let me start by tellin’ ya that Onix cards ain’t exactly the top dogs when it comes to Pokémon cards. Unlike them Charizards that make the news and cost thousands, Onix don’t quite make that kind of splash. But, if you got yourself a 1st Edition or maybe one of them Shadowless cards, well, now we talkin’. It could be worth a little more than a few bucks if it’s in good shape, mind ya.
First thing you need to know is that Onix cards from different sets can have different values. If you got one from the Base Set, it’s likely worth a tad more, especially if it’s in good condition. Now, ‘good condition’ don’t mean it looks brand new, but it’s gotta be lookin’ like it ain’t been through the wringer. No bent corners, no scribbles, and no big ol’ creases across the picture. That’ll help keep the value up.
For example, a 1st Edition Onix #56 from the Pokémon Base Set can fetch anywhere from a couple dollars to over $100 depending on how it looks. I seen some go for as high as $179, but that’s only if it’s near perfect. Most of ‘em, though, you’re lookin’ at $8 to $10 for a decent one. Ain’t gonna make you rich, but it might buy you a nice dinner!
Then, if you got one of them Onix cards from the Evolutions set, the price can be a bit different too. Most of the time, them go for around $2 or $3, especially if they’re what they call “Heavily Played” – that means they been used a lot, got some wear and tear. But if it’s in better condition, like a “Moderately Played” one, then the price can jump up to about $10 or more. Ain’t bad for a card that just looks like a big ol’ rock snake!
So, if you out there huntin’ for an Onix card, or if you’re sittin’ on a pile of ‘em, just remember that not all Onix cards are gonna make you rich. It all depends on what edition you got, how old it is, and, most importantly, the condition. Some folks, like them auction house folks, might try to tell ya it’s worth a lot more, but most of the time, you’re lookin’ at under $20 unless you got somethin’ real special.
One thing I gotta mention, though, is the Onix #61 from the Evolutions set. Don’t get too excited about that one either. It’s pretty common, and the prices for it don’t jump up too high. I seen it go for as little as $1 in some places. Now, if you got it in mint condition, it might fetch a little more, but still, don’t expect it to make you a fortune.
There’s also them Onix cards from the “Shadowless” Base Set. They ain’t got no shadow on the right side of the picture, and that’s a little odd, but it don’t necessarily mean they’re worth a whole lot more. The price can still be in the range of $8 to $15, depending on the shape it’s in. If it’s got the shadow, it’s worth a little less. I’d say it’s all about the condition and if it’s a rare version or not.
Now, to wrap it all up, I’d say Onix ain’t the highest-flyin’ bird in the Pokémon card world, but it can still hold its value if you’ve got a nice one. If you find one from the 1st Edition set, or if it’s in great condition, it could be worth a little more. But most of the time, don’t expect to make a whole lot of money off it. Maybe just enough for a nice meal or a little pocket change.

If you ever get your hands on an Onix card, just make sure you take care of it. Put it in a sleeve, keep it outta the sun, and keep it safe. That’s the best way to make sure it don’t lose its value over time. Now, happy huntin’ out there, folks!
