You know what? I tried to recreate the classic cover of Spider-Woman #1 the other day, and let me tell you, it was a trip!
I started by digging up all the info I could find about Spider-Woman. Turns out, her real name is Jessica Drew. She’s got this crazy backstory involving getting sick as a kid and her dad injecting her with some experimental spider-serum. The serum saved her life, but it also gave her spider powers. Sounds wild, right?
So, I got into my Spider-Woman costume. It’s pretty tight, but hey, that’s how it’s supposed to be. Then came the hard part – the pose. I tried to get on all fours like in the cover. It’s way harder than it looks! I kept wobbling and nearly fell over a few times. I guess those comic book artists make it look way easier than it is.
After a bunch of tries, I finally managed to hold the pose. But then I realized, I didn’t have a high spot to take the picture from. I mean, how do they get that angle in the comics? I ended up using a stack of books, but the angle wasn’t quite right. Still, I got a few decent shots.
- First Attempt: I tried to mimic the pose right away, but I couldn’t quite get the balance.
- Second Attempt: I studied the cover some more and realized I needed to lift my backside a bit higher.
- Third Attempt: I finally got the pose right, but then I had to figure out the camera angle.
The Pictures
The pictures didn’t turn out exactly like the comic, but they’re pretty close. I definitely captured the essence of Spider-Woman – you know, strong, confident, and a little bit sassy. And let me tell you, it was a lot of fun!
It was interesting to learn about how Jessica’s story has been all over the place, from fighting bad guys to dealing with clones of her mom. And get this, there’s even a new comic coming out on November 29th. It’s called Spider-Woman #1, and it’s written by a guy named Steve Foxe. They’re introducing a new group of villains called the ANTI-ARACH-9. Sounds intense, right?
Doing this cover made me appreciate Spider-Woman even more. She’s not just some superhero; she’s a survivor. I mean, she’s been pushed to her limits, but she always bounces back. That’s something we can all admire, I think.
It was a fun and goofy thing to try out, but I’m glad I did it. It was a good workout, and I learned a lot about Spider-Woman. If you’re a fan, you should definitely check out her new comic when it comes out. Who knows, maybe I’ll try to recreate another cover sometime!
