Okay, so, I finally got some free time on my hands, and I was like, “It’s time!” I’ve been eyeing this “Necromunda: Dark Uprising” box for ages. It’s this tabletop game, kinda like those Warhammer things but in a different setting. Anyway, I finally decided to crack it open and get started.

First thing I did was unpack all the stuff. Man, there’s a lot in there! Tons of these little plastic guys you gotta build and paint – they’re the game pieces, you know? And a bunch of plastic bits to make the terrain, like walls and platforms and stuff. It’s all modular, so you can set it up however you want, pretty neat.
So, I started with the figures. I spent a good few evenings clipping them off the plastic frames – you gotta be careful not to snip off any important bits! Then, gluing them together. Some of them were pretty fiddly, I won’t lie. My fingers were covered in glue by the end. But it was kinda therapeutic, you know? Just focusing on these little dudes and making sure they looked right.
- Clipping the figures from the frames.
- Gluing the figures together.
- Worrying about snipping important bits by accident.
Once I had a few of them built, I decided to try painting them. I’ve never been much of an artist, but I figured, why not? I watched a few videos online, picked up some basic paints and brushes, and went at it. It was harder than it looked! Getting the paint in all the little cracks and details without making a mess was a real challenge. I definitely messed up a few times, but hey, that’s part of the learning process, right?
While the paint was drying, I started working on the terrain. That was actually a lot of fun. It’s like building with LEGOs, but for grown-ups. I spent hours putting together different layouts, trying to make it look like a cool, run-down industrial area. I even added some extra bits and pieces I found around the house to make it more unique, make it my own.
- Watching videos online about painting miniatures.
- Getting paints and brushes.
- Messing up a few times.
After all that, I finally had a few gangs ready to go and a decent-looking battlefield. I grabbed a buddy who was also curious about the game, and we gave it a shot. We had to flip through the rulebook a lot – there are so many rules! – but we eventually got the hang of it.
We played a few games, and it was a blast! It’s a pretty brutal game, I gotta say. Lots of shooting and fighting, and your guys can get seriously injured or even killed. It’s not for the faint of heart! But that’s part of what makes it exciting, I guess. You really feel invested in your little gang of fighters. You gotta think of others, you gotta feed them, sometimes it means your friends will get hurt. I guess it’s part of the appeal of this game. It’s really exciting, I feel attached to my gang.
My First Real Game
It was a real nail-biter! We were neck and neck the whole time, and it all came down to the last turn. I managed to pull off a victory, but it was super close. We were both laughing and shouting, it was great. I’m definitely hooked now. I can’t wait to paint more figures, build more terrain, and play more games. This “Necromunda: Dark Uprising” thing is pretty awesome. It’s way more than just a game; it’s like a whole hobby.
I think I’ll keep recording my progress on this journey. It’s been a blast so far, and I’m excited to see where it goes. Maybe I’ll even start a little blog or something to share my experiences with other people. Who knows!
