Alright, guys, so I got my hands on that Mezco Warriors set everyone’s been talking about. Yeah, the one based on that old flick from ’79. Been waiting for this one for a while, ever since I saw the previews way back when. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a process getting here.
First off, I placed a pre-order on their website. Their founder, some guy named Michael Markowitz, seems to be running the whole show. Anyway, I used my PayPal to pay for it, and boom, they charged me right away. I guess if you use a credit card, they wait a bit, but with PayPal, it’s instant. They did send a reminder email before they shipped it, which was nice.
So, I’ve been seeing some buzz online, folks saying the face sculpts are killer but the articulation is a bit stiff. I was stoked, so I ripped open the box as soon as it arrived. Inside, you got your four main dudes: Swan, Ajax, and also two of those Baseball Furies guys. They also tossed in a bunch of accessories – bats, chains, the works. You can swap them out, make ’em hold different stuff. Pretty neat.
I spent a good chunk of time just messing around with them, you know, seeing what poses I could get them into. And yeah, what people were saying online is true. The faces? Spot on. Seriously, they look just like the guys from the movie. The clothes, too – they nailed that ’70s vibe. But those joints? A bit stiff. I tried to get them into some action poses, like they were in a brawl, and it was a bit of a struggle. The ankles, man, they barely move. And the clothes kind of get in the way, too. But for just standing them there looking cool, it is not a big deal.
- The Faces: Seriously, top-notch. Like, they jumped right out of the movie.
- The Clothes: They got that whole ’70s gang look down. You can almost hear the disco music.
- The Accessories: Lots of cool stuff to play with. You can have them holding all sorts of weapons.
- Moving Them Around: This is where it gets tricky. They’re not super flexible. Don’t expect to put them in any crazy poses.
I’ve heard Mezco did some other Warriors figures before, bigger ones that looked kind of cartoony. These are way better. I mean, they’re not perfect, especially if you’re into making them do all sorts of crazy moves. But if you’re like me, and you just want them to look awesome on your shelf, then yeah, they’re pretty great. I can just picture them standing there, looking tough, ready to rumble. Definitely a cool addition to the collection.
The Final Word
So, yeah, the Mezco Warriors set? I’m digging it. It’s a solid set. Great for display, maybe not so much for dynamic posing. But hey, they look badass, and that’s what counts, right? It’s like having a little piece of that movie right there on my shelf. That’s pretty awesome in my book. All and all, I am quite satisfied with this purchasing experience.
