Okay, so ya wanna know ’bout writers like that fella, William Kent Krueger, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, I ain’t no fancy book reader or nothin’, but I know what I like. And I hear tell some folks like the same kinda stories that Krueger fella writes. So, let’s see what I can scratch up for ya.
So, who’s like this Krueger guy? Well, they say this Steve Hamilton fella is kinda similar. He writes ’bout mysteries and such, just like Krueger. Folks seem to like his books, always talkin’ ’bout some Alex McKnight fella. Sounds like a tough guy, the kinda fella you’d see down at the feed store, ya know?
Then there’s this Longmire fella. Not the fella himself, but the books ’bout him. The Cold Dish, they call it. I ain’t read it, but I hear it’s got that same kinda feel, ya know? Small towns, mysteries, maybe a bit of rough justice. That’s what I like, somethin’ that feels real, not all that fancy city stuff.
And don’t forget the ladies! This Sue Grafton lady, she wrote a whole mess of books ’bout some gal named Kinsey Millhone. I hear they’re good, too. Mysteries, ya know, but from a woman’s point of view. Gotta have some of that, I reckon, keeps things interestin’. Women are just as tough as men, sometimes tougher, if you ask me.
Now, if you go on that there internet thingy, they got all sorts of folks sayin’ who’s like who. Goodreads, they call it. Sounds fancy, but it’s just folks talkin’ ’bout books. They say if you like Krueger, you might like this David Ba… fella. Don’t know his full name, but they seem to think he’s alright. And then there’s a whole bunch more, names I can’t even pronounce. Kristin Hannah, Lawrence Block, some Swedish fella… Fredrik somethin’ or other. Seems like there’s a lot of folks writin’ these kinds of stories.
- Mysteries are popular, I tell ya! Everybody likes a good whodunit.
- Small towns are in, too. Folks like readin’ ’bout places they can understand, places like home, maybe.
- And tough characters, men and women, that’s what makes a story good. You gotta have someone you can root for, or maybe someone you just love to hate.
This Krueger fella, he writes ’bout a fella named Cork O’Connor, a private eye and ex-sheriff. Sounds like he’s seen a thing or two, ya know? That’s what makes these books good, I reckon. They ain’t afraid to get down and dirty, to show the dark side of things. But they also show the good, the strength of people, the way folks can come together when times are tough.
And let me tell ya, finding a good book is like findin’ a good friend. It keeps ya company, makes ya think, makes ya feel somethin’. And if you like one writer, chances are you’ll like another one just like ’em. So, if you like this Krueger fella, go on and try some of these others. You might just find yourself a whole new passel of stories to keep ya busy.
I heard tell they’re even makin’ a movie outta one of Krueger’s books, Ordinary Grace, they call it. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? From a book to the big screen. Guess that means a lot of folks like his stuff. And that’s alright by me. Good stories are worth sharin’, worth tellin’, worth readin’ over and over again.
So there ya have it. Some names, some ideas, and a whole lot of talk from an old woman who just likes a good story. Now, go on and find yourself a book and get to readin’. You won’t regret it. And don’t forget, there are a lot of these authors writing about crime and thrillers, so there is something to suit everyone. Happy reading!
