Oh boy, where do I even begin with this “Kamisama Hajimemashita” cosplay project? It all started a few weeks ago when I stumbled upon this anime series.
I got hooked, I mean, seriously hooked. The characters, the story, everything just grabbed me. So, naturally, my next thought was, “I gotta cosplay this!”
First things first, I spent a good chunk of time just scrolling through Pinterest. I made a board, and just started pinning every image that I thought could help me. And used it to gather ideas. Trust me, there are tons of amazing cosplays out there from this series.
Research and Planning
- Watched the anime (multiple times, whoops).
- Scoured Pinterest for inspiration.
- Made a list of characters I might want to cosplay.
After much deliberation, I decided to go with Tomoe. His look is just too cool to pass up. With the character picked, I started listing out all the parts of the costume. The kimono, the ears, the hair… it was a lot. But hey, who doesn’t love a good challenge?
Gathering Materials
This was the fun part, though my wallet might disagree. I hit up some online stores, fabric shops, and even some thrift stores. It was like a treasure hunt. Some things I found were perfect, others needed a bit of DIY magic. For example, I couldn’t find the exact style of kimono I needed, so I bought a plain white one and some fabric dye. Fingers crossed I didn’t ruin it!
The Creation Process
With all my materials gathered, it was time to get crafty. I started with the kimono. Dyeing it was a bit nerve-wracking, but it turned out pretty good! Next, I worked on the accessories. I shaped Tomoe’s fox ears out of some foam and fur I bought. They turned out super cute if I do say so myself. And the hair, oh the hair. I got a long white wig and styled it. Took a few tries to get the look just right, and I might have shed a few tears of frustration, but I think that in the end I nailed it.
The Final Touches
Once the main parts of the costume were done, I started working on the details. A little bit of makeup to get that supernatural look, and of course, I couldn’t forget Tomoe’s signature fan. I found a plain white fan and painted it to match the one from the anime. It was these little details that really brought the whole cosplay together.
The Big Reveal
Finally, the day came to put it all together. I put on the kimono, styled the wig one last time, did my makeup, and added all the accessories. Looking in the mirror, I couldn’t help but smile. I actually felt like Tomoe! It’s a great feeling to see a project you’ve poured your heart into come to life.
So yeah, that’s my “Kamisama Hajimemashita” cosplay journey. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I’m already thinking about which character to tackle next. Maybe Nanami? Or perhaps Kurama? The possibilities are endless! Stay tuned, folks. This cosplay adventure is just getting started.
