I’ve been messing around with some art stuff lately, and I wanted to share a recent project I’ve been working on, featuring Jenny Sparks. She’s a pretty cool character, and I’ve had fun bringing her to life on the page. If you aren’t familiar, she’s sort of an unconventional hero type who can manipulate electricity. The series follows her as she’s fighting to protect the planet. And the story I’m working on now has a rogue Captain Atom, who she has to go up against.

I started by sketching out some initial ideas a few months back. I did some rough drafts, just trying to get a feel for her look and vibe. I grabbed my drawing tablet and just started putting lines down, no pressure, just letting it flow. There were a bunch of these early sketches that just didn’t quite hit the mark.
Once I had a basic concept I was happy with, I started refining it. I used some digital tools to clean up the lines and add some more detail. I put in hours, going back and forth, tweaking things here and there. Finally, it all came together.
Then, I shared it on my social media, and it got a decent amount of attention. I think it was something like 575 likes and 20 comments on that first post. People seemed to really dig it, which was awesome. Later, I shared another related Jenny Sparks post that got even more attention. That one got 887 likes and 23 comments.
I also got to do the cover art for a hardcover omnibus of Kamen America Vol. 1, which was a great experience. And I’ve even done some work for DC Comics, including some Wonder Woman stuff.
Here’s a little breakdown of what I did:
- Brainstorming and initial sketches – Just getting ideas down, no matter how rough.
- Refining the design – Cleaning up lines, adding details, making it look polished.
- Sharing online – Putting it out there and seeing what people think.
- Working on other projects – Like the Kamen America cover and some DC Comics work.
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. I had a blast working on this, and it’s always cool to see people appreciating your work. I love sharing my process and seeing what other people are creating. Keep on drawing, folks! It’s been a wild ride, but I’m super stoked about how it all turned out.
