Alright, alright, let’s yak about this Department of Truth TV show thingy. Heard they’re makin’ a show outta that comic book, the one with all them… whatchamacallits… conspiracies? Yeah, conspiracies.
Now, I ain’t never read no comic book in my life, too busy workin’ my fingers to the bone, I tell ya. But my grandkid, that whippersnapper, he’s always jabberin’ about it. Says it’s about some fellas in the government, keepin’ all them wild stories just stories, you know? Like that moon landin’ was fake and the earth is flat as a pancake. Hogwash, if you ask me. But hey, makes for a good yarn, I guess.
So, this Department of Truth, they’re the ones makin’ sure them crazy ideas don’t take hold. Sounds like a heap of trouble to me. Like tryin’ to herd cats, I reckon. Folks believe what they wanna believe, ain’t no stoppin’ ‘em.
This fella, James Tynion the Fourth, he’s the one writin’ it, both the comic and now this TV show. Fancy name, ain’t it? Sounds like one of them rich city folk. Heard he’s won some awards too, somethin’ called an Eisner. Don’t mean much to me, but I guess it means he’s good at what he does. Him and another fella, Martin Simmonds, they cooked up this whole Department of Truth mess.
Now, they got this fella named Cole in the story. FBI man, they say. He gets pulled into this secret Department, teamed up with a gal named Ruby. Sounds like a recipe for trouble, if you ask me. FBI and secrets, never a good mix.
- They say it’s a “twisty paranoid thriller.” That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Means it’s gonna mess with your head, I figure.
- And it’s about “makin’ sure that conspiracy theories stay conspiracy theories.” Like I said, herdin’ cats. Good luck with that.
They’re sayin’ this show is gonna be a big deal. Heard it’s goin’ to “screens,” whatever that means. Movies? TV? Who knows these days? Everything’s on a screen, even my grandkid’s silly games.
Folks are comparin’ it to another one of this Tynion fella’s stories, Something is Killing the Children. That one sounds scary, don’t it? My grandkid says Department of Truth is gonna be even better, though. We’ll see about that.
Seems like they’re bringin’ the comic back too, new stories and all. Callin’ it a “new story arc” I think. Like chapters in a book, I guess. So, if you’re into that kind of stuff, you got plenty to keep you busy. Me? I’ll stick to my soaps, thank you very much.
But I’ll tell you what, this whole thing got me thinkin’. Maybe there’s somethin’ to them conspiracies after all. Not that the earth is flat, mind you, that’s just plain silly. But maybe there’s more goin’ on than we know, more secrets hidden away. Maybe this Department of Truth ain’t so far-fetched after all. Makes you wonder, don’t it? Makes you wonder…
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about this Department of Truth TV show. Sounds like a whole lotta hooey to me, but maybe it’ll be good. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even watch an episode, just to see what all the fuss is about. But don’t tell nobody I said that.
