Okay, so today I wanna talk about Invincible Iron Man #55. Man, what a ride that was!
It all started when I was digging through some old comic boxes at my local shop. You know, just browsing, not really looking for anything specific. And then, bam! There it was, staring right at me – Invincible Iron Man #55. I’d heard whispers about this issue, mostly about it being the first appearance of Thanos. Thanos, you know? That big purple dude who’s been causing all sorts of trouble in the movies lately.
So, I grabbed it. I mean, how could I not? The cover alone was awesome, with Iron Man facing off against these two weird-looking guys, the Blood Brothers. I flipped through the pages right there in the store, and I was hooked. It was like stepping back in time to 1973, the art was so classic, and the story, man, it was just starting to unfold.
I paid for it, rushed home, and dove right in. First off, this wasn’t just any Iron Man story, it was the introduction of Thanos and a bunch of other characters. Drax the Destroyer was in there too! It felt like I was witnessing the start of something big, something that would become a huge part of the Marvel Universe. I read the whole thing in one sitting, couldn’t put it down. It’s not like the Iron Man stories I’d read before, like the ones by Matt Fraction, which are great, by the way, but this was different. It was raw, it was the beginning.
And let’s talk about Tony Stark for a minute. In this issue, he’s peak Tony Stark. Arrogant, yeah, but with a heart, even if he doesn’t always show it. It’s like, you can see why this guy would eventually mess up big time, like with Ultron or the whole Civil War thing. But here, in this comic, he’s just figuring things out, fighting bad guys, and being the smartest guy in the room.
After I finished reading it, I went online, trying to find out more about this issue. Turns out, it’s a pretty big deal. People were talking about the current prices, sales data, all that collector stuff. I even found some old reviews from back when it first came out. It’s cool to see how this comic has stood the test of time.
I also stumbled upon some discussions about other Iron Man runs. Someone mentioned the 2015-2016 run by Bendis, and I gotta say, I dig that one too. It’s more modern, sure, but it’s got that same Iron Man spirit.
What I learned
- Invincible Iron Man #55 is a key issue. Thanos, Drax, it all starts here.
- The art is a total throwback. If you’re into that classic comic book style, you’ll love it.
- Tony Stark is, well, Tony Stark. Flawed but brilliant.
- This issue is a collector’s item, no doubt.
- There are tons of other great Iron Man stories out there, but this one’s special.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with Invincible Iron Man #55. It’s more than just a comic book, it’s a piece of history. And it reminded me why I love this stuff in the first place. It’s the stories, the characters, the whole universe that gets created. If you ever get a chance to check out this issue, do it. You won’t regret it.
