Oh, honey, you wanna know about that Iron Man comic, the number 1? Well, let me tell ya, I seen a lot of things in my days, but that there comic book, it’s somethin’ else. Ain’t nothin’ like them old-timey stories we used to tell ’round the fire, but it’s got its own kinda magic, I reckon.

Iron Man #1, That’s the One
This here Iron Man #1, it’s where it all started. I heard some folks talkin’, sayin’ some fella named Stan Lee, he’s the one who cooked up this whole Iron Man thing. Then there’s a couple other fellas, Larry somethin’, and Don and Jack, they helped out too, drawin’ the pictures and all. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but I can tell ya, them pictures sure are somethin’ to look at.
First time that Iron Man fella showed up, it was in some other comic, Tales of Suspense, I think they called it. Number 39, back in ’62, or was it ’63? My memory ain’t what it used to be. But then, in ’68, that’s when he got his own book, Iron Man #1. That’s the one you wanna get your hands on if you wanna see how it all began.
What’s Iron Man #1 About?
Now, I ain’t read every single one of them Iron Man comics, there’s a whole heap of ’em. But from what I gathered, this Iron Man, he’s a real smart fella. Built himself a suit of armor, all shiny and metal. Makes him strong, lets him fly around, shoot beams and whatnot. He gets into all kinds of scrapes, fightin’ bad guys and savin’ the day. Like a superhero, I suppose you’d call it.
This first one, Iron Man #1, I reckon it tells you how he became Iron Man in the first place. Probably got somethin’ to do with that there suit of armor he built. I seen pictures of it, all red and gold. Looks kinda fancy, if you ask me. Not somethin’ you’d wear to work in the fields, that’s for sure!
- This guy, Tony Stark, I think his name is, he got into some trouble.
- Had to build that there suit to save his own hide, is what I heard.
- Then he decided to use it to help folks, fightin’ crime and all that.
- That’s what makes him a hero, I guess.
Why Folks Like Iron Man
I heard this Iron Man, he’s a real popular character. There are even Iron man movies about him, full of the MCU stuff, if you are familiar with the modern stuff. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but that’s what the young’uns tell me. I guess folks like him ’cause he’s just a regular fella, underneath all that metal. He ain’t got no superpowers or nothin’ like some of them other heroes. Just a smart fella with a fancy suit.
I reckon it’s ’cause he’s relatable, you know? He makes mistakes, he gets hurt, he ain’t perfect. And he’s always tryin’ to do what’s right, even when it’s hard. That’s somethin’ everybody can admire, I reckon. And that suit, well, it’s just plain cool. Who wouldn’t want to fly around in a suit of armor, shootin’ lasers and fightin’ bad guys?

The New and The Old
I heard them say there’s a new Iron Man #1 comic now, written by some fella named Kieron and drawn by another one named Greg. They say it’s all about some “Fall of Krakoa” and a fight against somethin’ called “Orchis.” I don’t know nothin’ about that, but it sounds mighty complicated. I guess that’s what the young’uns are into these days. New armor, old enemies, that is what they say.
Me, I prefer the old stuff. The original Iron Man #1, that’s the one that holds a special place in my heart. It reminds me of a simpler time, when things weren’t so complicated. When a hero was just a hero, and a comic book was just a comic book.
Iron Man, He’s Alright
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about that Iron Man comic, the number 1. It’s a good story, I reckon. Worth a read if you got the time. And if you see that Stan Lee fella, you tell him I said hello. He seems like a good egg, even if he does make up stories about men in iron suits.
That Iron Man, he’s alright, I guess. For a fella who wears a tin can, he’s got a good heart. And that’s what matters, ain’t it? Havin’ a good heart. That’s somethin’ we all should strive for, whether we’re wearin’ a suit of armor or just our regular old clothes. Well, I best be goin’. Got chores to do. You take care now, ya hear?
