Okay, so, I got this idea to make a full art of Dachsbun, you know, the Pokémon? I’ve been seeing a lot of these fan-made card arts online, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, Dachsbun is just so cute, with its bread-like body and all. I figured it would be a fun little project to do in my spare time.

Getting Started
First thing I did was gather some references. I looked up a bunch of official Dachsbun art, some fan art, and even real-life pictures of dachshunds, just to get a good feel for the anatomy and, well, the overall vibe of the creature. I wanted to make sure my drawing looked legit, like it could actually be a real Pokémon card.
Then, I started sketching. I’m not the best artist, mind you, but I know my way around a pencil and paper. I went through a few rough drafts, trying to get the pose and proportions right. I really wanted to capture that playful, happy-go-lucky personality that Dachsbun has. It took a while, but eventually, I had a sketch I was pretty happy with.
Inking and Coloring
Once the sketch was done, it was time to ink it. I used a thin black marker for this, carefully tracing over my pencil lines. This part always makes me a bit nervous because one wrong move and you can mess up the whole thing. But, I took my time and managed to get some pretty clean lines. I thought to myself, not bad. Then I erased the pencil marks underneath.
Next up was the fun part: coloring! I decided to go with colored pencils because I like the texture they give. I started with the base colors, filling in Dachsbun’s body with different shades of brown and tan. I put on some music and lost myself in the coloring process. It was pretty relaxing, actually. I spent several evenings just chilling and coloring. Then I added some shading and highlights to give it more depth. I wasn’t sure if I was doing it right, but I just went with my gut.
Adding the Background and Details
After Dachsbun was all colored in, I started working on the background. I wanted something simple but fitting, so I went with a grassy field and a blue sky. I added some fluffy clouds and a few trees in the distance, just to make it a bit more interesting. It’s not super detailed, but I think it works.
Finally, I added some finishing touches. I used a white gel pen to add some highlights to Dachsbun’s eyes and some sparkles around it. I also added the card details like the type, HP, and attacks, just like a real Pokémon card. I tried to copy the font and layout as best as I could. I even made up some silly attacks, just for fun.
The Result
And… that’s it! My Dachsbun full art is done. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. I took my time, did each step at my own pace, and I’m actually happy with the result. I learned a lot along the way, and it was a fun little project to work on. I might even try making more of these in the future. Who knows, maybe I’ll even make a whole deck of fan-made Pokémon cards. Wouldn’t that be something? And hey, if I can do it, anyone can. It just takes some patience and a bit of creativity. It was a lot of fun, and I’m glad I gave it a try.
