Okay, so today I wanna talk about getting my hands on a Metagross illustration rare card. I’ve been collecting Pokemon cards for a while now, and this one has been on my radar.

First, I started by checking out some local card shops. I headed to a couple of places in town, you know, the usual spots where collectors hang out. Browsed through their stuff, asked around, but no luck. It seemed like this particular card was pretty scarce, at least in my area. I always like shopping in person because it is interesting to talk to the staff and other collectors, and sometimes you can get a good deal.
Next, I moved my search online. I scoured various trading card websites and online marketplaces, and after browsing a ton of listings, and found a few Metagross illustration rare cards. Prices were all over the place, to be honest. Some were way too expensive, and others seemed a bit sketchy, like, too good to be true. Compared a bunch of options, read through seller reviews, you know, the whole nine yards.
- Checking the card number, which for this one is 178/162.
- Looking at the rarity, which is, of course, illustration rare.
- Making sure it’s a Stage 2 Pokemon with 180 HP.
After a lot of back and forth, I finally found a seller with good ratings and a reasonable price. We exchanged a few messages, negotiated a bit, and eventually, I pulled the trigger and bought the card.
Now came the waiting game. Waited a few days, checking the tracking info like a hawk. Finally, the package arrived. Ripped it open, and there it was—the Metagross illustration rare card, in all its glory. The foiling on the artwork really pops, and the card itself feels solid. It was graded a perfect 10, which is just the cherry on top.
A Real Beauty
I immediately added it to my collection binder, right next to some other prized cards. Holding it in my hands and seeing it up close, I knew it was worth all the effort. Sometimes you’ll find a rare holo card that’s basically the same as a cheaper one, but this one definitely stands out. You could tell it was a rare one just by looking at the black star.
I took some time to admire the artwork. The details are insane, and the colors are so vibrant. It’s definitely one of the coolest cards I’ve got in my collection now. I showed it off to some of my collector buddies, and they were pretty jealous, which is always a good sign.
Overall, getting this Metagross illustration rare card was quite the journey. From hitting up local shops to finally finding the right one online, it was a mix of excitement and, at times, a bit of frustration. But in the end, it was totally worth it. Now I’ve got a gem in my collection, and I can’t wait to see what card I’ll chase after next.
