Well, now, let’s talk about this “3 Body Problem” and whether it’s got any of that religious stuff in it. I been hearin’ folks chatter ’bout the show and the books, and some folks been askin’ if it’s got any religion mixed up in all that fancy science talk. Well, let me tell ya, it ain’t exactly what you’d call a Sunday sermon, but there’s a little bit of faith and belief floatin’ around, if ya look close enough.

Now, this whole “3 Body Problem” thing ain’t about prayin’ in church or listenin’ to Bible verses, not by a long shot. It’s a whole lotta science, math, and talk about aliens and space, things we ain’t never seen or heard of. But still, there’s some strange parts where you might feel like they’re touchin’ on religious ideas, even if they don’t say it outright.
Take the story of the alien race, the Trisolarans. They ain’t gods, but they sure are powerful. They can wipe out humanity if they feel like it. Now, some humans, they’re so desperate, they start worshippin’ these aliens like they’re some kind of higher power. They say, “Oh, the aliens are our saviors!” But in truth, it’s just a bunch of folks who don’t know what else to do when the world’s fallin’ apart. Ain’t that what folks sometimes do when they get scared? Look for someone or something bigger to cling to?
And then there’s Wenjie, one of the characters. She’s seen a lotta bad stuff in her life. She’s been through a lot, and she’s startin’ to lose faith in humanity. She makes a joke about God smashin’ Einstein’s violin, and it’s a real strange one. Some folks say it’s a way of warnin’ people that maybe we’re not meant to understand everything, like there’s a bigger power at work that we just can’t figure out. It’s like sayin’ you can’t mess with the big guy in the sky, or maybe He’ll crush ya like a bug.
But here’s the thing, the whole “3 Body Problem” story ain’t really about religion directly. It’s more like the idea of belief. See, humans in the story, they’re all scared and confused, just like us sometimes. They don’t know if they’ll make it, and they’re tryin’ to make sense of a world that don’t make sense. They’re searchin’ for answers, but they ain’t always gonna find ‘em. Just like folks been doin’ since the dawn of time, tryin’ to figure out what happens after this life, or what the point of it all is. But in the end, nobody’s got the right answer. We’re all just a bunch of leaves blowin’ in the wind, floatin’ wherever it takes us.
And then you got the way time works in this story. It’s real important, but also real strange. Time don’t mean much to the Trisolarans. They ain’t worried ‘bout it the way we are. For them, it’s just a tool to help them do what they need to do. Ain’t no second chances, and ain’t no mercy. Now, you might say that’s like some kind of apocalyptic religion where there’s no room for redemption. You either survive or you don’t, and in the case of humanity, it’s lookin’ like we might not.
So, is “3 Body Problem” religious? Well, not exactly. But it sure touches on some things that make ya think. It talks about humanity’s place in the universe, our helplessness in the face of powers we can’t control, and the way we sometimes look for faith when we’re desperate. It don’t tell ya to believe in a god, but it does make ya wonder if there’s something bigger than us out there—whether it’s the Trisolarans, the universe itself, or some other force we can’t even begin to understand.
At the end of the day, “3 Body Problem” is more ‘bout what it means to be human in a big, scary universe. But if you’re askin’ if it’s religious, I’d say it ain’t a sermon, but it sure has some religious undertones if you’re lookin’ for ‘em.
