So, I’ve been digging through some old stuff in my attic, and I stumbled upon a box of comic books. I’m not really a comic guy, but I figured I’d take a look anyway. Turns out, I had a copy of X-Men #1 from 1991. I thought, “Hey, maybe this thing is worth something?”

First, I just looked up “X-Men, 1991 Series comic books” online to see what came up. And I found that some websites are selling those comics. I guess I can sell mine, too. I didn’t know which site is the best, so I decided to do more research.
Then, I wanted to know what determines the price of those comics. So I searched for things like “value of a X-Men #1 comic book.” I’m seeing a bunch of different prices for X-Men comics. I mean, there are more than 1,000 issues. And some websites are showing prices for each one. It looks like these prices change depending on what’s been sold recently on eBay and other places. This is getting interesting! I’m starting to feel like a real comic book pro.

Researching Online Marketplaces
I started looking at different websites that listed prices. I saw that some comics called “X-Men #-1” and “X-Men #1” got different prices. Some are even selling. I guess mine is #1. They split into two teams or something like that. And there’s something about a mansion, defenses, and splitting into teams. Wolverine and Psylocke? I don’t really get it, but it sounds cool.

Understanding Comic Book Conditions
Then I started to realize that it’s not just about having the comic, it’s also about what kind of shape it’s in. Mine is a little bit worn, obviously been read a few times. Some of these websites, they grade the comics based on how good of condition they’re in. Like, if it’s been kept in a plastic sleeve and never opened, it’s worth more. Mine definitely wasn’t stored like that. Oh well.

Figuring Out My Comic’s Value
So, after looking at all these prices and conditions, I finally got an idea of what my comic might be worth. I saw some that looked similar to mine, condition-wise, and they were going for a certain price range. It wasn’t a fortune, but it was more than I expected! I found that mine has “Storm and Beast Cover.” And some websites said it’s the 1st appearance of something called “X-Men Gold and X-Men Blue team,” also “the Acolytes.” Whatever that means. But it sounds kinda important, right?
I’m not gonna make a fortune, but I’m also not giving away for free. I think I will find a good place to sell it. If there is any other valuable comics in my attic, I don’t know. I will continue searching. I just don’t want to make a mistake and give away something for free. I might keep digging through my attic. Who knows what else I might find!
