Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… uh… hot toys Jake Sully thing. My grandson, he’s crazy about these things. Spends all his money, I tell ya, all his money! He showed me this picture, this Jake Sully guy, blue all over like he fell in a paint bucket.
Now, this Jake Sully, he’s strong, real strong. Like that bull we had on the farm, always breaking fences. This fella, Jake, he can ride anything, even those big bird things, whatchamacallits, Toruks? Yeah, Toruks. And he’s good with guns, bows and arrows, all that fighting stuff. Tough guy, I guess. Reminds me of my old man, always ready for a scrap.
- He’s got all sorts of hands, you know, like for holding things.
- And he’s got a thing like suspenders, but with bullets on it.
- Plus a gun, a hatchet, a knife, and even one of them, uh, boom-boom things, grenades, yeah.
My grandson said something about it being “one-sixth scale”. I don’t know what that means. Is it small like a doll? Or big like a real person? He said it’s seventeen inches tall or somethin’. Seventeen inches…that’s about this long, gestures with hand Still seems kinda small for a tough guy like this Jake. My grandson also mentioned another doll, a tall woman named Neytiri, I think. Seems like Jake got himself a girlfriend, maybe. My grandson said the Neytiri one is even taller. Seventeen inches for Jake, but this Neytiri must be taller than that, like a beanpole maybe.
They make different kinds of these Jake Sully toys, you know. Regular ones and fancy ones. Deluxe, my grandson calls ‘em. I don’t see why you need a fancy one. A toy is a toy, right? But he says the fancy ones got more stuff, more hands, more weapons. Kids these days, always wantin’ more, more, more. Back in my day, we were happy with a stick and a rock. And, these Neytiri ones, seems they’ve got “regular and deluxe” as well. Double trouble, I tell ya. Double the money my grandson will want to spend. Gonna need to sell some chickens just to keep up.
This Jake Sully guy, he’s from a movie, a picture show. My grandson watches it all the time, those Avatar movies. About blue people and big trees and… I don’t know, I fall asleep. Too much noise and bright colors for me. But the kids, they love it. They love this Jake Sully and that Neytiri and all them flying creatures. Guess that’s why they want these toys so bad. My grandson says there’s a new Avatar picture coming soon. More toys, I bet. More money out the window.
These Hot Toys, they ain’t cheap, lemme tell ya. My grandson saved up his allowance for months, didn’t buy any candy or nothin’. Just for this blue fella. He says it’s worth it, says it’s the best toy ever. I don’t get it, but what do I know? I’m just an old lady who likes her quilts and her garden. But if it makes him happy, I guess it’s alright. He plays with it all the time, makes up stories, makes it fly around the room. It’s better than him staring at that little box all day, that, whatchacallit, phone thing. At least with the toy, he’s using his imagination. And, not to mention, not only these Jake Sully and Neytiri dolls, but it seems like they got a bunch of other Avatar dolls coming as well. Oh lord, the toys will just never stop.
So, that’s the story on this Jake Sully toy. Strong guy, lots of weapons, and costs a pretty penny. My grandson loves it, that’s all that matters, I guess. He’s happy, I’m happy. Even if I don’t understand why a blue fella is so special. He’s just a toy, after all. But to my grandson, he’s a hero. And that, I reckon, is worth more than all the money in the world. Or at least all the money my grandson has in his piggy bank anyway. Though if he keeps buying these toys, even that little piggy bank will be empty soon.
