Okay, so, I got into this whole “Champion” graphic novel thing, and let me tell you, it was a ride. I was browsing around, looking for something new to sink my teeth into, when I stumbled upon this title. “Champion: A Legend Novel” by Marie Lu. Sounded interesting enough, right?
First thing I did was check out what it was all about. Turns out, it’s the final book in this “Legend” trilogy that Marie Lu wrote. Apparently, it’s a big deal, a best-seller and whatnot. And this “Champion” is the graphic novel adaptation of that final book. So, I’m thinking, “Okay, graphic novel, cool. I’m in.”
I went ahead and got myself a copy. No idea where to find it, but after some digging, I found it. The cover looked pretty intense, with these characters, June and Day, who I guess are the main folks in this story. From what I gathered, they’ve been through a lot, sacrificing stuff for the people of their world.
Getting into the Story
So, I cracked open the book and started reading. The art style, it’s pretty slick. Really brings the story to life. It’s all about June and Day, these two characters who seem to have a pretty complicated relationship. They’re in this dystopian world, fighting for something, I’m not sure what yet because I just dove right in. But it’s exciting, that’s for sure.
- The Art: Seriously, the artwork is top-notch. It’s got this vibrant feel that makes you want to keep flipping pages.
- The Story: Even though I jumped in at the end of the trilogy, I’m getting hooked. There’s a lot of action, and you can tell these characters have a deep history.
- The Feels: You can feel the weight of their journey, even in the graphic novel format. It’s pretty powerful stuff.
Wrapping Up My Thoughts
I’m not done yet, but so far, “Champion” is living up to the hype. I’m really getting into June and Day’s story, and I’m curious to see how it all ends. Plus, now I’m thinking I need to go back and read the first two books, “Legend” and “Prodigy,” to get the full picture. The Lexile level is 820 according to some info I saw, which is a good sign.
If you’re into graphic novels, or if you’ve read the “Legend” trilogy, you’ll probably dig this. And if you’re new to it all like me, it’s still a solid read. Just be prepared to possibly go down a rabbit hole and get the other books too. It’s worth it, though. Trust me.
Alright, that’s my two cents on “Champion” so far. I’m gonna get back to reading. Catch you guys later!
