Today, I wanna talk about my recent deep dive into the world of “LEGO Marvel Superheroes”. Specifically, I was trying to get my hands on the game’s transcripts. Yeah, you heard that right, the actual text of all the dialogues and scenes in the game. Sounds kinda weird, I know, but I had my reasons.
First off, I booted up my PC and started scouring the internet. I was just searching, and searching and searching. There were a few forums and communities where people were discussing the game, but no actual transcripts. There were some places mentioned, like a subreddit and something called “Internet Archive”, but I found nothing useful there. I dug and dug, but it felt like I was getting nowhere. Some places had bits and pieces, like a quote from Iron Man here, or a line from Nick Fury there, but nothing complete.
Then, I stumbled upon a website that had transcripts for a “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 3: Endgame”, but that wasn’t what I was looking for. I needed the transcripts for the first game. I was starting to feel a bit lost, honestly.
So, I thought, “Why not try a different approach?” I fired up the game itself. I figured maybe I could just play through it and manually note down all the dialogues. Kinda old school, but hey, it might work. I started a new game, and boy, it was a trip down memory lane! The intro scene kicked off, and I was immediately scribbling down lines from Phil Coulson and Iron Man. It was something like:
- Phil Coulson: (transmission) Welcome back to New York, gentlemen!
- Iron Man: Look at this mess.
I kept playing, taking notes, pausing, rewinding. Then there was this scene with J. Jonah Jameson, and he said something about neighboring districts, I just jotted down:
- J. Jonah Jameson: Just when you thought it couldn’t get any odder around here with Knight’s Kingdom and Jungles are being our neighboring districts. I can exclusively reveal a new.
Then, there was some action, and these lines popped up:
- Watch out, it’s about to open fire!
- Iron Man: Whoh! Whoa! Oohhhh!
- Nick Fury: Tony, are you alright?
- Iron Man: Ow.
It was a lot of work, but I was actually getting somewhere. I realized there were all sorts of transcripts available online, but mostly for the sequels or different versions of the game. This made me even more determined to get the transcripts for the first one. After hours of playing, pausing, and scribbling, I had a decent chunk of the game’s dialogue written down. It wasn’t perfect, but it was something.
I even found some dialogues from a later level involving Beast Boy, Ms. Marvel, and Lex Luthor:
- Beast Boy: Why’re there bad guys here? We should get more heroes!
- Ms. Marvel: And stop Kang!
- Lex Luthor: Ms. Marvel and Beast Boy are right, Sinestro.
But here’s the kicker – I eventually found out that there isn’t a readily available, complete transcript for “LEGO Marvel Superheroes” floating around the internet. At least, not one that’s easy to find. Most of the stuff out there is either incomplete or for the wrong game. I was bummed, but hey, I learned a lot along the way, and I had a blast playing the game again. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll finish the job and create the ultimate “LEGO Marvel Superheroes” transcript myself!
So yeah, that’s my little adventure. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but it was fun nonetheless. Sometimes, the journey is more interesting than the destination, right?
