Alright, so, let’s yak about this “the summer machine” thing. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it, seen some pictures flashin’ around. Seems like a big deal, this movie thingy, or whatever they call it.
What’s this “the summer machine” all about then?
Now, from what I gather, some fella named George R.R. Martin, yeah, the one who wrote all them dragon stories, he’s cookin’ up somethin’ new. Not dragons this time, though. This “the summer machine” is one of them “sci-fi” deals. You know, space and robots and such. He ain’t writin’ it though, just producin’ it, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, I tell ya. Probably means he’s payin’ for it all, the lucky dog.
- It’s a short film. Not one of them long, drawn-out things you gotta sit through for hours.
- It’s sci-fi. Like I said, spaceships and whatnot. Not my cup of tea usually, but hey, maybe it’ll be good.
- George R.R. Martin is involved. That dragon fella, you know. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, so maybe this thing will be worth watchin’.
They showed a picture, a still they call it. Just one picture from the whole shebang. It was… interestin’. Hard to tell what’s goin’ on, mind you. Looked like a fella standin’ in front of some kinda machine. Big and metal, all shiny and stuff. The fella looked worried, like he’d lost his prize-winnin’ pig or somethin’. Maybe that machine was the problem, who knows.
I ain’t sure what the story’s gonna be. Maybe the machine makes summer all year round? That wouldn’t be so bad, would it? No more shovelin’ snow, that’s for sure. Or maybe it’s a time machine? Takes you back to your younger days, when you could still eat a whole apple pie without gettin’ a bellyache. One can only dream, right?
Why should anyone care about this “the summer machine”?
Well, I reckon some folks just like them sci-fi stories. They like thinkin’ ’bout the future and what might be. Me? I’m more of a “right now” kinda gal. But hey, if George R.R. Martin’s puttin’ his name on it, it might be worth a look-see. He’s a smart fella, that one. Knows how to tell a good story, even if it’s about robots and spaceships.
And it’s a short film, right? Not gonna take up your whole evenin’. You can watch it, then get back to your chores. Nothin’ wrong with a little entertainment, I always say. Breaks up the day, keeps you from goin’ stir-crazy.

What can we expect from “the summer machine”?
Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. Like I said, they ain’t showin’ much yet. Just that one picture and a whole lot of talk. But that’s how these things go, I guess. They gotta build up the excitement, get folks talkin’. And it’s workin’, ain’t it? Here we are, yakkin’ about it.
I’m hopin’ for a good story, somethin’ that makes you think. And maybe some pretty pictures too. I like lookin’ at pretty things, even if they’re just spaceships and robots. But most important, I want it to be entertainin’. I don’t wanna be bored outta my mind, you know?
So, we’ll just have to wait and see, I reckon. Wait till they release it, whatever that means. Put it out there for everyone to watch. Then we can all judge it for ourselves. Maybe it’ll be a masterpiece, maybe it’ll be a dud. Either way, it’s somethin’ to talk about, somethin’ to pass the time. And that, my friends, is worth somethin’ these days.
Final words? I am just waitin’ for the movie to come out, I will give you my final thoughts then, but now, we can just guess. So let’s see it.
