Now, if you ain’t heard of it, let me tell ya about this big ol’ thing they call Funko and their Emerald City Comic Con. It’s somethin’ real special for folks who like them little figures and all them comics and toys. I reckon it’s somethin’ that folks been waitin’ for every year, and this year ain’t no different. They holdin’ it in Seattle, Washington. Big city, ain’t it? Folks from all over come out just to see the latest from Funko, and boy, do they got some surprises in store!
Now, what’s all the fuss about? Well, Funko, they like to release some exclusive toys for this here event. They call ‘em “exclusive Pop figures.” Yep, them little plastic figures, with the big ol’ heads, you know the ones I’m talkin’ about. And every year, they got new ones that folks can only get at the Emerald City Comic Con. So if you want ’em, you gotta be there, or at least keep an eye out for ’em online. They been doin’ this for a few years now, and people sure do get excited ’bout it.
Now, let’s talk ’bout what happened this year, 2021. A lot of things was different, what with this here pandemic and all. Funko didn’t show up in person, nope. But they weren’t gonna let that stop ‘em. No sir, they held their little virtual event where they revealed them exclusive Pops. And folks, they sure did go wild! If you ask me, it was just like sittin’ by the fire with a bunch of friends, only this time, it was all online.
They even called it the “Festival of Fun.” Ain’t that a cute name? They streamed it live, so folks could see all the new toys as they came out. And what’s better than that? Folks at home could sit with their popcorn and watch from the comfort of their own couch. It was like a big ol’ party, but no need to put on your shoes or leave the house!
Now, even though they didn’t have no big ol’ booth at the con this year, they sure did make up for it. I reckon they mighta even done more than if they had been there in person. They had giveaways, they had sneak peeks, and people got real excited ‘bout what was comin’. They had everything from Star Wars figures to Marvel characters, and even some from DC Comics too. So whether you’re a fan of the old comic books or them newfangled movies, there’s somethin’ for everybody.
And let me tell ya, it ain’t just the grown folks who love these little figures. No, no. Even the young’uns, they got their eyes on ‘em. I seen kids beggin’ their folks to get ’em some of them Pop figures. I reckon it’s just the way things are now, with all this newfangled technology and them things they call “collectibles.” Back in my day, we’d collect rocks and old buttons, but these days it’s all about them shiny figures, I suppose!
If you didn’t catch the virtual event this year, don’t worry. Funko’s been doin’ this for a while now, and I reckon they’ll be back next year, same time, same place. They always got somethin’ new to show, and folks can’t seem to get enough. I don’t know if it’s the excitement of gettin’ something rare, or just the fun of collectin’ stuff, but whatever it is, it sure gets people talkin’.
So, if you’re a fan of Funko or just curious ‘bout all this Comic Con business, make sure to keep an eye out for next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had even more surprises in store. You never know what them Funko folks are gonna come up with next, but one thing’s for sure: it’s always a good time for all those who love a little fun and a little pop culture!
