Okay, so, Frost Fatales 2024, right? I got really into it this year. Let me tell you all about it!
First off, I had to find out what this whole thing even was. Turns out, Frost Fatales is this awesome week-long speedrunning event. And guess what? It’s all women! How cool is that? They run it under the Games Done Quick banner, which I found out is a pretty big deal in the speedrunning world. They raise a ton of money for charity, like Doctors Without Borders. I saw that they raised over $2.5 million in the past, which is just insane!
So, naturally, I was hyped. I kept checking the Games Done Quick website. I really wanted to see the schedule. When they finally dropped it, I was all over it. Marked down March 3rd to March 10th on my calendar, like, ASAP!
During the event, I pretty much glued myself to the stream. I watched so many games I’d never even heard of before, being played in ways I couldn’t even imagine. These women were seriously skilled. It was mesmerizing, just watching them blaze through these games.
The best part, though, wasn’t just the games. It was the whole vibe. Everyone was so supportive and excited. You could feel the energy, even through the screen. Plus, knowing that it was all for a good cause made it even better.
I ended up donating a few bucks myself. Felt good to be a part of something so positive. I even started looking into how I could get involved next year. Maybe I will try to learn a speedrun myself, who knows?
Anyway, Frost Fatales 2024 was a blast. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
