Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another wild ride in the world of comics! Today, I dove deep into the crazy world of Spider-Man and his many, many deaths. I mean, seriously, this guy has died more times than I’ve changed my socks this week. The title of today’s adventure? “8 Deaths of Spider-Man.” Let’s get into it, shall we?
So, first off, I started digging around to see what this whole “death of Spider-Man” thing was all about. Turns out, it’s a wild, winding road filled with more twists than a pretzel factory. I started with this one comic from way back in 1994, “Web of Spider-Man #117.” This was the kickoff to the infamous “Clone Saga.” Clones, man. That’s where things started getting weird.
Then I went further back, all the way to 1975, with “Amazing Spider-Man #149.” This was like the granddaddy of the Clone Saga. Apparently, a few years after Gwen Stacy’s death—which, by the way, was a total gut-punch moment delivered by the Green Goblin at the Brooklyn Bridge—things got complicated. And let me tell you, the Green Goblin, that dude’s got issues. He’s the guy who made Gwen Stacy take the worst fall ever, right off that bridge. Tragic, man, just tragic.
After that, I got into the whole clone mess. Now, I’m not going to lie, it got confusing. But here’s the gist: clones of Spider-Man, running around, causing all sorts of chaos. And in the middle of it all, there’s this guy, Otto, who’s got some serious beef with Peter Parker. They had this whole showdown, and in a weird twist, Otto realized he messed up big time. Turns out, Peter’s mind was still kicking around in there somewhere, and Otto decided to take one for the team, letting Peter become the “Superior Spider-Man.”
I also stumbled upon something about some stories called “What If.” These were like alternate realities where Spidey died in all sorts of crazy ways. Getting eaten by his alien suit, getting shot by the Red Skull, even getting blown up in a fight with his own clone! It’s like the universe just loves killing Spider-Man in different ways.
And there were these {SEN#1-3,ASM#407-410,SM#64-67,SPEC#230-233}. I think those are more comics, where this other Spider-Man, Ben, was fighting bad guys and doing all those hero things. I mean he’s basically another one of the main character’s many clones.
So, after hours of reading, note-taking, and a few too many coffee refills, I finally pieced together this wild story. Spider-Man, or should I say, Spider-Men, have had more lives than a cat. From clones to alternate realities, it’s a wild ride.
Here’s the breakdown of my little adventure today:
- Started with “Web of Spider-Man #117,” the start of the Clone Saga.
- Went back to “Amazing Spider-Man #149,” the origin story of the clones.
- Got lost in the clone madness.
- Read about Otto and his sacrifice.
- Discovered the “What If” stories, where Spidey dies a lot.
- Then I find these {SEN#1-3,ASM#407-410,SM#64-67,SPEC#230-233}, and it’s about this Ben guy being Spider-Man.
And that’s it! That’s my deep dive into the “8 Deaths of Spider-Man.” It’s been a wild ride, and I hope you enjoyed this messy, somewhat confusing, but totally epic journey. Catch you all later!
