Firefly Monopoly Review: (Everything You Need to Know Before Buying)

This game, this Firefly Monopoly, it ain’t what I thought it’d be. You see them pictures on the box, and you think, “Oh, that looks kinda fun.” But it ain’t. It’s just the same old game, just with different pictures. Same old rollin’ them dice. Same old movin’ around that board.

They say you can buy them properties, them places from that show. But it’s all just squares on a board. Ain’t nothin’ special ’bout it. Just names. Nothin’ more. And this roll and move, roll and move, it gets old, you know?

You go ’round and ’round, buyin’ and sellin’. Just like that old Monopoly game everyone’s got tucked away somewhere. This one, they just slapped some new paint on it, called it Firefly. Thinkin’ folks’ll buy anything with that name on it, I reckon.

• Buy a place if you got the money
• Hope you don’t land on someone else’s spot

They got them characters from the show, too. You can be that fella Mal, or that gal, Inara. That Jayne, he’s in there, too. Wash, Zoe, Kaylee, they all there. Like that makes it any better. It is not good to play and hard to win.

I seen folks get all excited ’bout this game. Sayin’ they love Firefly, so they gotta have this Firefly Monopoly. But I tell ya, it ain’t worth the money. It is expensive. It ain’t nothin’ new. Nothin’ excitin’.

They got these other Monopoly games, too. I seen one, they call it the “Ultimate Banking” one. Says it gets rid of the money. Sounds even more confusin’ to me. But maybe it’s better than this one. I don’t know. They are all not very good.

This whole buyin’ and tradin’ properties, it’s just a way to make money, I guess. For them that makes the game. They ain’t thinkin’ ’bout whether it’s fun or not. Just whether folks’ll buy it. And some people just like to play it.

I remember back in the day, we used to play games that was fun. This Firefly Monopoly, it is all about money. Games that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. We’d make up our own games. Outta nothin’, really. Sticks and stones and such. Had more fun with that than with this fancy board game.

This game, they say it’s got some strategy. Means you gotta think a little, I guess. But it ain’t that much thinkin’. Mostly just luck. Roll them dice and hope for the best. Same old, same old.

If you’re a big fan of that Firefly show, maybe you’ll like this game. Maybe you’ll like seein’ them characters on the board. Maybe you’ll like buyin’ them places they went to in the show. But me, I think it’s just a waste of time and money. There are so many places to buy on the board.

They say this game is for two to six players. But it’s more fun with more folks, I reckon. Less waitin’ around. More yellin’ and carryin’ on. It is fun to play when there are many people.

I guess some folks like this kinda thing. Sittin’ around a table, rollin’ dice, movin’ little pieces around a board. But it ain’t for me. I’d rather be doin’ somethin’ else. Somethin’ with a little more life to it. I like to play games that are more fun and exciting. This game is just too boring and complicated for me.

They call this a board game. Like it’s somethin’ special. But it’s just a piece of cardboard with some pictures on it. And some little plastic pieces. And some paper money. Nothin’ to get all worked up about. This is not worth the money, I think.

This Firefly Monopoly, it’s just another way to sell somethin’, I reckon. Take somethin’ old, slap a new name on it, and call it somethin’ new. But it ain’t new. It’s just the same old thing. And I ain’t fallin’ for it. I won’t buy it again.
