Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this Pokemon card thing lately, specifically the Darkness Ablaze set. Man, it’s a whole world out there! I wanted to get a handle on what these cards are worth, you know, just for fun and maybe to see if I could snag a few deals.

First, I just started browsing around, trying to get a feel for things. I hit up a bunch of different websites and forums, just lurking, reading what other people were saying. There’s a ton of info out there, it’s kinda overwhelming at first. I saw people talking about prices all over the place, some saying this card is worth a lot, others saying it’s not worth much. It was a mess! I realized I needed a more organized approach.
So, I started making a list. Yeah, a good old-fashioned list. I figured that was the best way to keep track of everything. I started noting down the names of the cards and any prices I saw mentioned. I saw that there are 200 cards in this “Darkness Ablaze” thing. That is insane! At first, I only focus on a few cards which are hot and frequently mentioned by others, such as the Charizard VMAX, you know, the one that everyone seems to want.
Then I started comparing. I’d look at the prices on one site and then check another, trying to see if there was any consistency. Some sites seemed to have higher prices, others lower. It was tough to tell what was a “good” price and what was just someone trying to rip people off.
I also started looking at the condition of the cards. That’s a big deal, apparently. A card in mint condition is worth way more than one that’s all bent up and scratched. I learned some new terms like “Near Mint,” “Lightly Played,” and “Damaged.” That’s a whole other can of worms. I thought it’s too complex for me so I only note down the price of these cards with good condition.
After a while, I started to see some patterns. Certain cards were consistently priced higher than others. The rare ones, the shiny ones, the ones with popular Pokemon on them – those were the ones that were really worth something. This discovery made me exciting!
Here’s a little bit of what I found, just to give you an idea:
- Charizard VMAX: This bad boy was going for a lot. I saw prices anywhere from $50 to over $100, depending on the condition.
- Eternatus VMAX: Another pricey one. This one was usually a little cheaper than the Charizard, but still up there.
- Crobat V: Not as expensive as the other two, but still a valuable card.
What I learned from this process?
It was a lot of work, but I actually learned a lot. I’ve got a much better sense of what these Darkness Ablaze cards are worth now. Of course, the market is always changing, so I’ll have to keep checking. It is not easy, but it is worth it. This is just my own little project, but it’s been pretty fun. I am considering maybe selling some of them to make some money in the future.
This whole thing has been a real eye-opener. It’s amazing how much strategy and value there is in these little pieces of cardboard. I started this journey without knowing anything about Pokemon cards. But now, I can proudly say that I am familiar with them. And I am confident to find the most valuable card in the next journey and keep updating my price list!
