Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this wild ride I went on today trying to make some sense of this whole “comic weird” thing. I’m a bit of a comic book nerd, not gonna lie, but I usually stick to the classics, you know? Calvin and Hobbes, maybe some of those political satire comics, you name it, I’m there. But today, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and dive into the weird side of comics, boy, was it a trip!

First, I started with a simple search, like I always do. Typed in “weird comics” and a bunch of stuff popped up. Apparently, there’s this whole world of comics beyond the big names like DC and Marvel. I found sites like “GoComics” and “Mike’s Amazing World of Comics” that have tons of indie and alternative stuff. That’s where I started to get a feel for what “comic weird” could really mean.
Then, I stumbled upon some newer webcomics, which are, you know, comics published online. Names like “Villain Cultivator’s Secret Return” and “The Stunner” came up. I gave them a read, and man, the art styles, the stories, they’re all over the place! Super different from the newspaper strips I’m used to. They’ve got their own vibe, kind of like those indie movies that are super creative but not everyone gets them. Not too bad, but a little bit strange, but I’ll keep trying.
And you know what’s really crazy? I found this guy online, goes by “Comics Explained.” He’s been reading comics for over 25 years, which is like, wow. Anyway, he talks about all kinds of comics, even the weird ones. I watched a few of his videos, and it’s like he’s unlocking a whole new level of understanding for me. It’s still a bit confusing, but I’m starting to see why people dig this stuff.
So, here’s what I’ve gathered so far. “Comic weird” isn’t just one thing. It’s this huge mix of different styles, stories, and ways of making comics. Some of it is, yeah, pretty out there. But some of it is actually really cool, just different. It seems like I need to spend more time reading new comics and learn more to really understand this area. But, for now, that’s where I’m at with it.
I’m definitely gonna keep exploring this “comic weird” universe. It’s like this whole hidden world that I never knew existed, and it’s kinda blowing my mind. I’ll keep you guys posted on what else I find. Who knows, maybe I’ll even end up creating my own weird comic someday! Alright, that’s all for now. Catch you later!
