So, I was on vacation, right? Just chilling in Myrtle Beach, and I realized, “Hey, I need to find a comic shop around here.” I’m a big comic book nerd, always have been, and I figured there had to be a cool place to check out some new issues or maybe some old back issues I’ve been looking for.

First thing I did, I pulled out my phone and started searching. I typed in “comic shop Myrtle Beach” and a few options popped up. Looked like there were a couple of places that had decent reviews, so I picked one that was closest to where I was staying.
I drove over there, and man, it was a bit of a hole-in-the-wall kind of place. I almost drove right past it. But I parked, got out of the car, and headed inside. I walked in, and the guy behind the counter barely looked up. Not exactly the friendliest welcome, you know?
I started browsing around, and the selection wasn’t terrible, I guess. They had a decent amount of new releases, and the back issue bins were somewhat organized. I spent some time flipping through some stuff, trying to find something that caught my eye. I ended up finding a couple of issues I’d been meaning to pick up, so that was a win.
Then I decided to wander into the back. They had some card games in there, maybe some figures, but it was mostly a comic shop. I noticed they had a section with some Pokemon comics. I’m not a huge Pokemon guy, but I know it’s popular. I also saw they had some uniforms, books, badges, and other things like that for, I think, the Boy Scouts? Kind of a random mix, honestly.
- Went to the comic shop
- Browsed new releases
- Checked out back issues
- Found a couple of issues
- Explored the back section
- Saw Pokemon comics and some random Boy Scout stuff
When I went to check out, the guy at the counter was still pretty indifferent. He rang up my stuff, didn’t say much, and that was it. I paid for my comics and walked out. Not exactly a memorable experience, but hey, I got a couple of new comics to read, so I can’t complain too much.
Overall, it wasn’t the best comic shop I’ve ever been to, but it wasn’t the worst either. The selection was okay, the prices were standard, and the service was… well, it was there. If you’re in Myrtle Beach and need a comic fix, it’ll do in a pinch. But don’t expect to be blown away.
Things I did:
- Searched for “comic shop Myrtle Beach”
- Drove to the closest shop
- Parked and went inside
Maybe next time I’m in town, I’ll try to find a different shop. Or maybe I’ll just wait until I get home to hit up my regular place. You know, the one where they actually know my name and ask about the comics I’m reading.
