Well, howdy there! Let’s talk about some comics, ya hear? Boom Studios, they got a whole bunch of new stuff comin’ out in September 2024. Yep, September. That’s when the leaves start turnin’ and the air gets a little nippy. But these comics, they’re hot off the press, or somethin’ like that. I ain’t no fancy city slicker, so I just call ’em picture books for grown-ups.

Boom Studios September 2024 Solicitations: What’s Comin’ Out?

First off, they got this Minor Arcana #1. Sounds kinda spooky, don’t it? Jeff Lemire, he’s the fella writin’ it. I reckon he knows a thing or two about makin’ up stories. Arcana… sounds like somethin’ my old granny used to talk about, all that mumbo jumbo stuff. But hey, if it’s got pictures, I’m in!

Then there’s this Something is Killing the Children #0. Lordy, that sounds even spookier! James Tynion and Werther Dell’Edera, they cooked this one up. Killin’ children? That ain’t right! But I guess it’s just a story, right? Like them scary movies my grandbabies watch. Makes me jump outta my skin, but they love it. This one’s a special edition, they say. Fancy, huh?

• Firefly: Now, this one I know! Firefly, that’s them space cowboys, right? Always shootin’ and flyin’ around. Good folks, them Firefly folks. They’re back for more adventures, I reckon.
• Power Rangers / Usagi Yojimbo: Power Rangers? I seen them on the TV once. All colorful and jumpin’ around. And this… Yo-jim-bo fella? Sounds like a Japanese name. My nephew, he likes all that Japanese stuff. Says it’s cool. Maybe I’ll get this one for him. It’s a team-up, they say. Like when you mix peanut butter and jelly. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it ain’t.

They also got somethin’ called “20 for 20”. I ain’t quite sure what that means, but it sounds important. Commemorative, they say. Like when they put up a statue of old Jebediah in the town square. He was a war hero or somethin’. Anyways, this “20 for 20” thing, it’s about epic adventures. Who don’t like a good adventure, right? Makes you feel young again, even if you’re just sittin’ in your rocker readin’ about it.

And then there’s all these variant covers. Erica Slaughter, they keep sayin’ her name. Must be a big deal artist or somethin’. Covers, they’re important, ya know? Like the cover of a good cookbook. Makes you wanna buy it, even if you can’t cook worth a lick. These Erica Slaughter covers, they’re on a bunch of different comics. So you can pick and choose, I guess. Like pickin’ apples at the orchard, only these apples got pictures on ’em.

So, that’s the lowdown on them Boom Studios September 2024 comics. A whole bunch of stuff, huh? Spooky stuff, space cowboys, colorful rangers, and fancy covers. Something for everyone, I reckon. Even an old lady like me can find somethin’ to read. Keeps the mind sharp, ya know? Sharper than a tack, that’s what my husband used to say. Bless his heart.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Biscuits and gravy tonight. Nothin’ fancy, just good ol’ country cookin’. But maybe later, after the dishes are done, I’ll sit down with one of them picture books and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe that Minor Arcana one… or maybe the Power Rangers… Decisions, decisions! Life’s full of ’em, ain’t it?

One-shots and Special Editions: What’s the Big Deal?

They are also puttin’ out a one-shot comic book, too. Now, I ain’t rightly sure what that means, but it sounds like it’s just one story and that’s it. No more comin’ after that, I guess. Like a short story in them magazines my daughter used to read. Quick and easy, not too much thinkin’ involved. Sometimes that’s all you need, ya know? Just a little somethin’ to pass the time. And them special editions? They probably got extra stuff in ’em, maybe some sketches or somethin’. Like when you buy the fancy box of chocolates instead of the regular bag. A little somethin’ extra makes it special, I reckon.

Alright, I’ve rambled on long enough. Go on and get yourself some comics, if that’s what you’re into. Me, I’m gonna go put my feet up. These old bones ain’t what they used to be. But a good story, well, that can make you forget about your aches and pains, even if it’s just for a little while.
