Hey everyone, today I want to share my latest journey in the world of comic art, specifically my experience with Cadence Comic Art. It’s been a wild ride, so let’s dive right in.
So, I stumbled upon Cadence Comic Art when I saw a post about their NYCC event. I mean, who doesn’t love a good comic con, right? The event kicked off, and I was immediately drawn to the works of Erica D’Urso and Gavin Guidry. I spent a good chunk of time just browsing through their art, totally mesmerized.
Then, I noticed they had these commission pre-orders happening. I thought, “Why not?” and decided to check it out. I saw that there were limited spots available for artists like TreeBeerd and AndyBelanger. I quickly grabbed a spot, hoping to get some cool original art.
Getting Started
Now, I’ve always wanted to get into collecting art, but I never really knew where to start. This seemed like the perfect opportunity. I saw a post by Jim Towe about his original art being available, and I jumped on it. I mean, his work is just amazing!
The whole process was pretty straightforward. I found Cadence Comic Art to be one of the bigger names in the business, and they had some big-shot artists like Tula Lotay and Declan Shalvey. I felt like I was in good hands.
The Waiting Game
After placing my order, it was a waiting game. I kept checking my email, hoping for an update. Then, I saw this post about Robbi Rodriguez’s commissions opening up, and I thought, “Might as well get another one!” So, I went ahead and ordered another commission.
The Disappointments
But here’s where things got a bit messy. I started seeing news about artists leaving Cadence Comic Art. Names like Aixado, Rachele Aragno, and a bunch of others were no longer with them. It was a bit disheartening to see so many talented folks leaving.
Reflecting on the Experience
Despite the departures, I still feel like I had a good experience overall. I mean, I got to connect with some fantastic artists and even got my hands on some original pieces. But it’s hard to ignore the fact that so many artists have left. It makes you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes.
Here’s what I did step by step:
- Found out about Cadence Comic Art through their NYCC event.
- Explored the works of Erica D’Urso and Gavin Guidry.
- Pre-ordered commissions from TreeBeerd and AndyBelanger.
- Jumped on the opportunity to get original art from Jim Towe.
- Ordered another commission from Robbi Rodriguez.
- Saw news about artists leaving Cadence Comic Art.
- Reflected on my overall experience, both the good and the bad.
In the end, I’m glad I took the plunge into the world of collecting comic art. It’s been an eye-opening experience, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. Would I do it again? Probably. But I’d definitely keep a closer eye on the artists and the company’s reputation.
That’s my story, folks. Hope you enjoyed my little adventure with Cadence Comic Art. Until next time, keep those creative juices flowing!
