Hey everyone, today I wanna talk about something I’ve been messing around with lately – Blu-ray discs of the anime Sword Art Online, or SAO for short. You know, that show where people get trapped in a virtual reality game and have to fight for their lives? Yeah, that one.

So, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the SAO Blu-rays for a while now. I mean, the show’s got some killer animation and a pretty awesome soundtrack, and I figured watching it in high-def would be the way to go. Plus, I’m a sucker for limited edition stuff, and I heard there were some cool box sets out there.
First thing I did was hit up some online stores to see what the damage to my wallet would be. Let me tell you, these things aren’t exactly cheap. I saw prices ranging from like, 20 bucks for a basic season to over 200 for some of the fancier collections. I even saw a complete first season set with this “Extra Edition” thing for around 100 bucks.
Shopping Around
- I started by browsing a bunch of different websites.
- Compared prices and checked out what each set included.
- I noticed some stores offered discounts or free shipping, which was tempting.
After a bit of digging, I found a “Sword Art Online II Box Set” that was going for a little over 200. It seemed like a good deal, especially since it came with free shipping. But then I saw some other limited edition sets, like one called “Sword Art Online Progressive – Scherzo in the Dark”, which was also pretty pricey. Decisions, decisions…
Then I stumbled upon this online shop that had a “premium” membership thing. Apparently, if you signed up, you’d get discounts, early access to sales, and free shipping in the US. Sounded pretty good, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to commit to another membership.
In the end, I decided to go with the “Sword Art Online – The Complete Series” box set. It had all 25 episodes of the first season, plus that Extra Edition I mentioned earlier. It wasn’t the cheapest option, but it wasn’t the most expensive either. I figured it was a good middle ground.
The Goods
- The box set arrived a few days later, and I was pretty stoked.
- Popped the first disc into my Blu-ray player and… wow.
- The picture quality was amazing, and the sound was incredible.
- It felt like I was watching the show for the first time again.
I’ve been slowly making my way through the series, and I gotta say, it’s been a blast. The animation really shines in Blu-ray, and the orchestral soundtrack sounds even better than I remembered. Plus, it’s been fun revisiting the story and characters. I don’t get much time due to the limited time I have because of work, but I’ve been making my way through the series, an episode or two every other day, and I gotta say, it’s been a blast. Even if you’re not a huge anime fan, I think SAO is worth checking out, especially if you’re into action, adventure, or virtual reality stuff.
And there you have it – my little adventure in the world of SAO Blu-rays. It wasn’t a cheap endeavor, but I think it was worth it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some more virtual worlds to explore.
