Well now, sit down and let me tell ya ’bout somethin’ that happened a long time ago in Gotham, ya know, the big city where all them fancy folks live. It was back in June of 1966, and this here comic book, “Batman #181,” hit the stands. Now, don’t go thinkin’ this is just any ol’ comic book—no, this one right here’s special. It’s got somethin’ that no one was expectin’—the very first time ol’ Batman and Robin run into a lady villain named Poison Ivy. Yup, that’s right, her name’s Pamela Isley, but folks call her Poison Ivy ’cause she sure does have a way with them plants, and not the good kind either!

Now, let me tell ya how this all starts. Batman and his trusty sidekick Robin, they was just mindin’ their own business, doin’ their regular superhero stuff—fightin’ crime and all that. They was at this fancy art show at the Gotham Art Museum, lookin’ at all them pretty pictures. I reckon it was one of them high-society events that folks from Gotham love to put on. Anyway, they was lookin’ at portraits of all them female villains like Dragon Fly, Silken Spider, and Tiger Moth. But hold on now, the real trouble was just around the corner. Outta nowhere, this new lady shows up—Poison Ivy! She walks in all tall and mean, and right away, she starts makin’ her move on the city.
Now, Poison Ivy ain’t like your average villain. Nope, she’s got the power to control plants, and let me tell ya, them plants ain’t no friends of hers. She uses ’em to do all sorts of mischief, from attackin’ folks to causin’ trouble wherever she goes. And don’t you go thinkin’ Batman and Robin could just stop her easy. Oh no, not this time. Poison Ivy was one tough cookie, and she had a whole gang of her own to help her out. She ain’t workin’ alone, like some of them other villains Batman’s dealt with before. She’s got her own crew, ready to do her dirty work. But let me tell ya, she ain’t just out there robbin’ banks or causin’ regular ol’ trouble. She’s out to take down all them other lady criminals in Gotham, the ones that think they’re in charge. Poison Ivy’s got her sights set on being the top dog in Gotham’s underworld. She’s a real force to be reckoned with.
So, what happens next? Well, of course, Batman and Robin can’t let that happen. They gotta stop her, but it ain’t no easy task. They chase her down, but Poison Ivy’s always one step ahead. She uses them plants of hers to trap the Dynamic Duo and make their lives real difficult. But like always, Batman’s got a trick or two up his sleeve. With a little help from Robin, they eventually put a stop to Ivy’s plans.
But now, Poison Ivy ain’t just some one-time villain. No, sir. She comes back again and again, makin’ trouble for Batman, and sometimes even for his other heroes. She’s one of them villains that just keeps comin’ back, always with a new plan or somethin’ else up her sleeve. And, let me tell ya, this ain’t the last time we’ll see her. She becomes one of Batman’s most famous enemies. That’s the kinda villain she is—one that stays around, keepin’ Batman on his toes. She sure does become a big part of that Gotham world, you know, always up to somethin’.
Now, this here “Batman #181” comic book—it’s got some of the best art in it, if I do say so myself. Carmine Infantino and Sheldon Moldoff, they done drawn up some mighty fine pictures, and then there’s the words from Gardner Fox and Robert Kanigher that tell the story. All together, it’s a real treat for any comic book lover. If ya ever get the chance to read it, you’ll see how Poison Ivy’s debut sets the stage for all the trouble she’s gonna cause in Gotham. And if you’re a fan of the Batman series, well, you won’t wanna miss this one for sure.
So that’s the story of “Batman #181,” where Poison Ivy first made her mark. It’s a classic, and if you ever get a hold of one of them old copies, I reckon you’ll be glad ya did. It’s a real piece of comic book history, and it’s got Batman, Robin, and all them good folks takin’ on one of their most dangerous enemies. And remember, Poison Ivy ain’t no push-over—she’s tough, smart, and ready to fight for what she wants. Gotham better watch out!
