So, this Aquaman #1 comic, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s a real something. Ain’t like them regular books, y’know? It’s got pictures! And words! Fancy that. My grandkids, they love this stuff. Tells a story ’bout some fella, lives underwater.

They call him Aquaman. Says right there on the cover. Real colorful, this cover. Got this fella with muscles, swimmin’ around with fish and whatnot. Guess he’s the Aquaman. He’s got this pointy thing, a trident they call it. Looks dangerous. Don’t wanna poke yer eye with that.
- Now, this Aquaman, he ain’t alone. Got friends, or maybe enemies, hard to tell. There’s this other fella, looks mean. Black Manta, they say his name is. Wears a big helmet, can’t see his face. Like them fellas on motorcycles, but underwater.
- And then there’s Aqualad. Young fella, helps Aquaman out. Like a sidekick, y’know? Like them fellas on TV, always jumpin’ in when the main guy’s in trouble. Good kid, this Aqualad.
Story’s about peace, they say. Aquaman wants everyone to get along, the folks on land and the folks under the sea. Like them politicians on TV, always talkin’ ’bout peace, but never seem to get it done. This Aquaman, he’s tryin’ though. Gotta give him that.
Heard tell this comic’s worth somethin’. People collectin’ these things. Like stamps, or old coins. My neighbor, she’s got a whole pile of old newspapers. Says they’ll be worth somethin’ someday. Maybe this Aquaman thing’s like that. Folks payin’ good money for old paper. Who knew?
There’s monsters in this story too. Fire-Trolls, they call ’em. Escape from a volcano under the sea. Can you believe it? Volcano under the sea! And trolls made of fire! My arthritis acts up when it’s hot, imagine bein’ a fire-troll. Must be uncomfortable.
Aquaman and Aqualad, they gotta catch these trolls. Round ’em up and put ’em back where they came from. Like catchin’ chickens that got out of the coop. Always runnin’ every which way, gotta chase ’em down.
This Quisp fella helps out too. Don’t know who he is, some kinda little fella. Like a sprite or somethin’. Always needin’ help, these superheroes. Can’t do it all alone, I guess.
They put these comics in special cases, I hear. Plastic, keeps ’em safe. Like puttin’ yer good china in a cabinet. Gotta protect the valuables, y’know? This Aquaman #1, folks want it in good shape. No tears or marks. Like keepin’ yer tablecloth clean for Sunday dinner.
Some of these comics, they sell for a lot of money. Thousands, they say! Can you believe that? For a comic book! My old sofa ain’t worth that much, and it’s bigger. Folks payin’ big bucks for stories ’bout fellas in tights. Go figure.

This Aquaman fella, he’s been around a long time. Since the 40s, they say. That’s a long time to be swimmin’ around with fish. Must get tired. My feet hurt just thinkin’ about it.
This X-Men #1, that’s another one folks want. Millions of copies sold, they say. My grandkids, they love them X-Men too. Mutants, they call ’em. People with special powers. Like my Aunt Sally, could tell when it was gonna rain by the ache in her knee. Maybe she was a mutant too.
Well, that’s all I got to say ’bout this Aquaman #1 comic. Fancy pictures, stories ’bout fish and monsters, and worth a lot of money, apparently. Not my cup of tea, but the grandkids like it. Keeps ’em quiet for a bit, and that’s good enough for me.
