Okay, so, you wanna know about this “Always Sunny” thing, right? It’s a show, a TV show. Like them stories they tell on that little box in the corner. But this one, it’s… different. Not like them fancy shows with all the crying and huggin’. This one’s got people yellin’ and schemin’ and doin’ all sorts of crazy stuff.
What’s it about, you ask? Well, it’s about these folks, see? They run a bar, a real dumpy bar in Philadelphia. And they’re always, and I mean always, gettin’ into trouble. Like, the kind of trouble that makes you shake your head and say, “Them fools, what are they doin’ now?” They ain’t the brightest bulbs, let me tell ya. Always thinkin’ they’re gonna get rich quick, but it always blows up in their faces.
Now, they call it a “scripted” show. That means someone writes down what they’re gonna say and do, right? But these actors, they’re kinda wild. Sometimes they just make stuff up on the spot. Like, they’ll be yellin’ at each other, and then one of ‘em will just say somethin’ crazy that wasn’t even in the plan. And it’s funny, real funny, most of the time. Though sometimes it’s just plain stupid. But that’s part of the charm, I guess. It’s like watchin’ a train wreck, you just can’t look away.
- They got this one fella, Dennis. He thinks he’s real smart and handsome, always talkin’ down to everyone. But he’s just as messed up as the rest of ‘em.
- Then there’s Dee, his sister. She wants to be an actress, but she’s terrible. Just awful. And the guys, they make fun of her somethin’ fierce. Poor thing. But she gives as good as she gets, that’s for sure.
- And then there’s Mac. He’s always talkin’ about his religion and bein’ tough, but he’s really a big softie. And kinda dumb. Real dumb.
- And Charlie, oh, Charlie. He’s the wild card. Does all sorts of crazy stuff, like eatin’ garbage and writin’ weird songs. He’s a mess, but he’s got a good heart, somewhere in there.
- And Frank, he’s the old guy, Dee and Dennis’s dad. He used to be a businessman, but now he just wants to have fun and be part of the gang. He’s got more money than sense, that one.
They got all sorts of episodes, see? One time they went on a treasure hunt. Another time they tried to get on a game show. And there was this one episode where they were fightin’ each other, like a family feud, but way crazier. It’s always somethin’ with them. Never a dull moment.
And these “scripts,” well, they’re like the words they say, written down on paper. Or on a computer, I guess, these days. People write ‘em, and then the actors read ‘em and act ‘em out. But like I said, these folks, they don’t always stick to the script. They like to go off-book, as they say. Make it up as they go along. And that’s what makes it fun to watch.
Now, I heard tell that you can find these scripts online, if you know where to look. Some folks put ‘em up on the internet for free. Imagine that! Just givin’ away stories like that. But I ain’t got no computer, so I wouldn’t know how to find ‘em. I just watch the show on the TV. That’s good enough for me.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different to watch, somethin’ that’ll make you laugh, even when you probably shouldn’t, then give this “Always Sunny” show a try. Just don’t expect anythin’ fancy or high-minded. It’s just a bunch of messed-up people doin’ messed-up things. But it’s funny, I tell ya. Funny as all get-out. And sometimes, that’s all you need.
And don’t go thinkin’ this is somethin’ for the kids. It ain’t. They swear and they drink and they do all sorts of things you wouldn’t want your grandbabies seein’. But if you’re grown-up and you ain’t easily offended, then you might just enjoy it. Just don’t blame me if you start talkin’ like them. It’s catchy, that kind of crazy talk.
Now, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about TV shows is makin’ me hungry. But you go on and watch this “Always Sunny” thing. Maybe you’ll like it, maybe you won’t. But at least you’ll have somethin’ to talk about with your neighbors. And Lord knows, we all need somethin’ to talk about these days, what with the world bein’ the way it is.
