Absolute Batman 1: A Bold New Vision of the Dark Knight

Oh, you heard about this new “Absolute Batman” series, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s somethin’ else, not your usual Batman. Now, don’t get confused, this ain’t no ol’ story ’bout how he became Batman or none of that. This is somethin’ real different, something that gets right to the point, and gives us a whole new take on that dark knight we all know.

See, in this “Absolute Batman,” Bruce Wayne ain’t no rich ol’ man like the ones we know in them regular comics. Nah, in this version, he’s a young fella, only in his twenties. And get this, he ain’t short and small neither. This Batman’s a big fella, standin’ at six foot six. I reckon he’d be hard to miss if you passed him on the street!

Now, this whole thing started back in October of 2024. It’s part of somethin’ they call the AU imprint, which sounds fancy, but all that means is it’s an alternate take on the regular Batman story. And don’t get me wrong, they ain’t changin’ the heart of the fella. This Batman still got that deep desire to make the world right, to fight them criminals who just won’t quit. But, the way they show him in this one, he ain’t got all that money and fancy gadgets, so he’s workin’ with what he’s got. This Batman’s all about grit, determination, and, let’s face it, fear.

And boy, this story’s been real popular too. So much so that the first issue had to be printed again, and then again. I hear it’s goin’ for a third printin’ later this month. People just can’t get enough of it, and I reckon that’s because it shows Batman in a way they’ve never seen before. And the best part is, it still keeps that essence of the original Batman. The one we all love, even though this one’s a bit rough around the edges.

If you’re thinkin’ of givin’ it a go, I’d say go ahead. Even if you ain’t much into comics, this one might just pull you in. It’s real different from what you might expect, but it still feels like Batman, like he’s the same ol’ hero but in a brand-new world. You can find it all on DC Universe Infinite, so it ain’t hard to get a look at it. I tell ya, this is one series you don’t wanna miss!
